Did you do it at night when it can get "real" cold? Below 60F you start running into issues. If it tells you anything, today we were painting the Ram's at about 87F with 70%RH. Not ideal humidity, but the heat helps it flow/level and flash off right. Hell I've seen the clear coat zones reach 90+F but only have 60%RH and be fine. For rattle can stuff I've heard that they can be finicky with low temp. I haven't done any work with flake in clear coat, but that cloudiness sounds like it's not flashing and curing properly.
Never had that issue, but maybe if you isolate the source pedal you could throw that into a loop?
Nope. around 90-100 during painting. Second coat dried fine, 3rd came out looking like frosted glass a bit. It looks like it's from the metal flake/glitter. I've clear coated tons of stuff before and have never had this happen and I know it's not from over spray or anything like that.
Probably god punishing you for all the evil music you listen to. That's the only logical explanation.

Or it might have been my fault for thinking that the clear coat I used sounded like it would be cool, so I used it instead of the regular stuff.

That is weird, good luck! Let us know how it comes out. Is it big flake like Dano's and Italia's? I've always wanted to try that out.
I know I’ve showed this off before but after more time with the hx effects it continues to blow my mind with how well it’s thought out. I’m splitting my signal in the hx but will probably change it to the bass mono synth soon. Route my 2 fuzzes through a loop and split them between the amps.
One path mostly clean to the SVT and 810. The other to a Randall Rd45 Diavlo and diy 212. The Randall side will get the majority of the effects any delay or verb, modulations. But I ran a rat model to it with almost no bass and a hefty mid and treble boost and that sounds amazing with the lows off the svt.
My current drummer and I are kicking around an idea for a drum and bass only heavy band. Our current band is pretty alternative rock very radiohead ish so I want something heavy and loud and fuzzy. So we shall see.
Looks like a badass setup. Hopefully I'll be showing off an HX Effects of my own pretty soon...as long as all goes well with shipping.
Also, please make the new band happen and head out west on I-70 for some shows

It's the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of thing. Excluding aesthetic designs, guitars have largely been the same for the last 50 or 60 years.
The Fender Dimension was just a half @$$ed attempt to make something modern. Its failure that it was a half step that was still 20 years too late. The pickup design was just stupid, and they were the same old tired Fender bodies and colors.
Gibson has never given more than a second of thought to any of their designs. The production meetings are probably "Take a guitar model, make the neck longer, and slap four strings on it. Ergonomics? What does that word mean? Is that some kind of Ikea furniture?"
I thought the dimension was a well-intentioned design. But yeah, kinda tonedeaf considerimg it was a kinda sorta riff on the stingray and several g&ls (the irony of that of course not lost on me).
You are probably right on Gibson, though I do like Thunderbirds and EB-0/3 despite their limitations. Don't own one though.

Did you ever see the original dimensions from the early 00’s with the Ibanez style headstock? My first bass was one of those but a 5-string
Any tone tips? I'm currently using a Spector (Dual Humbuckers) and a Fender Modelling amp. Any suggestions for amp models and effects pedals that I should try?
Didn't know fender made a modeling amp for bass. What is it called? I'd start with any SVT or similar amp models, if theres any overdrives or fuzzes, give those a whirl and sre what you like. There's really no 'right' way
Fender has the Rumble 40 studio and Rumble Stage 800, i think. The ones I've played with sound pretty good, but the normal class D amp cautions need to be exercised with them.
Lizardking... good luck on your tone quest! Its a huge undertaking and its easy to loose yourself to it, LOL. Also watch out for the dragons.
Do you have the footswitch for your amp? I had to buy one separately for my Rumble 500 head, but its nice having that additional OD on tap if I need it or need the high gain toooby sort of sound. Normally I play clean or into a DG X for a clanky sort of overdrive.
Clear coat fixed the cloudy look it had. It looks a little grainy in the pic but those are the metal flakes or whatever in the paint. If you tilt it in the light the red goes from bright red to purple and blue-ish and the blue goes from bright blue to green to a sort of dark blue/purple. The body looks like it was made out of one of those expensive gourmet lolipops. I'm happy how it turned out.
I'll take more pics when it's all back together.
Baby steps. Find a clean tone you like with the bass preamp at noon (I assume it’s an active). Just the neck pickup, then adjust the bridge til you like it. Once your there, start playing with the amp til it sounds good and then if you want you can throw a pedal into the mix to try and make it sound like you want.
As for pedals, it’s easy to go down the rabbit hole. You don’t need to. Buy a cheap fuzz, the DOD Carcosa or EHX Green Russian are common and quality, and go nuts.
