I’m big on mastodon, elder, witchcraft, sleep,

I'm all about resting. Whether it's on the couch or in music, resting is what I do best.

Clutch was a big start for me. Took me a minute to get into. Not super heavy now but they started me looking for more underground bands that aren’t huge.

so more heavy psych for sure for me. I’m just not bummed out enough all the time to listen to doom. It’s cool in doses but I have a real deep love for white boy reggae a la sublime, ballyhoo and stuff like that. 311 is my absolute favorite band ever so I’m pretty all over.
How did I forget Mastodon? I'm a big fan, though I admit some of their albums don't do it for me, but I love the hunter.
Not sure about anyone else, but I noticed a trend with this end of the heavies: not a ton of snobs or that type of attitude. A lot of people and bands I've talked with seem to be influenced and like lots if not most all music genres (outside of talentless pop). Have I been lucky, or has anyone else experienced the same?
There is a little bit of good pop, but I'll leave that at that.

So I've been trying to parse this thread, but there is a ton of info here. I've been listening to stoner/doom for a few years, but I've never tried to duplicate the sounds on my own rig. Obviously there is a huge factor of cranked SVTs and multiple 810 fridges that I cannot duplicate with my D-800 head and pair of 210 GK cabs. But where would I look in the way of pedals to get close? Seems like some (many?) people stack an OD with a fuzz, which sounds interesting to me. I'm looking at the TAFM, Eau Claire Thunder, Deluxe Bass Big Muff for fuzz, as well as a B3K and ODB-3 for OD. The B3K is appealing since I like other metal styles as well. What other pedals should I consider? Price isn't much of a factor, I prefer to buy used if at all possible. I don't care for hunting for 10-year old discontinued unicorns though. Thanks in advance.
Mastodon are incredible. the hunter and once more round the sun were mediocre but the rest of their catalogue is great. i've really grown to appreciate their music over the years. i also like how they don't take themselves too seriously and they really are just a bunch of guys making music together. the way they interact with each other, the media and the public reminds me a lot of Rush.

That's so true, couldn't think of a better way to make music. Their ads for Orange are hilarious! I admit I was a huge fan of their real early stuff, but haven't listened all the way through any of their later albums, just bits and pieces. Probably need to sit down and listen through em.
Good to know it can grow on ya, I don't think I ever gave it much of a chance.

The first 3 Witchcraft albums are great!
turn down the treble and emphasize the low mids if you can. that's the general starting point but you will hear a very wide range of tones in the genre because there is a wide range of bands. if you have specific examples of tones that you like i'm sure you can get some good advice on how to get there.
Pallbearer and Monolord are at the top of my list right now. Thanks!
Do you mean one into the other or literally mix with an ls2 or similar?ok so some sort of muff, i recommend a bluebeard or the eau claire, mix it with an OCD or OCD clone like a Demon if you want more mids.
