Don't know how known they are, but done weeks ago I discovered WuW, instrumental doom with some jazzy influences:

So my bands in the middle of mastering our album. We got our second revisions and Alan Douches has done an incredible job helping this thing sound professional and not like it was recorded in my machine shop. Now Im starting to get nervous since its pretty much complete musically. We make some pretty anti social music, is anyone else going to like it lmao. Super esoteric lyrics and pretty singing mixed with some kidney crushing screams and ugly disonant riffs. Starting to worry we make music that no one else can love. Scary to start thinking about putting our baby out in the world to get judged.
That sometimes keeps me from even introducing people to ideas of mine for songs. You guys have done some shows IIRC. What was the audience response to that work?
Either way, ya never know until you try.
Our last show was before we fired our first guitarist. 2 of the songs on the album were being worked on at that time, but since I took over guitar and lead vocals the music has changed a lot. Which i guess is to be expected. He always did straight power chords and not a ton of disonance and i love the disonance. So our music has gotten uglier since he left lol.
At the time we got good crowd response. People seemed to like us. We played with primitive man and skan and they told us we needed to get out of oklahoma because they werent going to really understand us here. We have a weird mix of influences.
Everyone weve let kind of hear the album pre mastering has loved it, but I have a hard time trusting people I know to tell me the brutal truth on it.
Just remember, even bands like the Beatles and Zeppelin have their detractors. If your music gets polarized responses I'd argue that's a good thing. It means you're really pushing up against some limits, which (IMO) is much better than just trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I guess if your goal was to try to achieve mainstream success (or get booked on a Saturday night at the local blues lawyer bar) then sure, it would make sense to worry about how many people might like/dislike it. But if you're trying to make something that is meaningful to you and that gets across your vision, then I'd say don't think twice about whether some people might not dig it.
If you're doing pretty savage music and Primitive Man digs it, I guess you already have your answer. Lol

Lol i wouldnt say we are as savage as primitive man. Some of the new material we are working on that isnt making this album is getting there. This album ended up being a weird mixture of ambience and grinding doom riffs. Theres that saying that communicating music is like dancing architecture. Hard to describe what we are at this point.
Yeah those pre.release feelings are tough. I just ended up trusting the people saying it was good. Most importantly when people said it just sounded like us regardless of what we were playing. I wanted it to be perfect, but realized the more dubs and fixes would wreck the feel of our album and just left it alone.
I will say I really pay attention to the people open to giving opinions on what might or might not work. I'm also so thankful for the couple close friends of mine that tell it to me straight whether it's brutal or awesome.
Love dissonance, right up my alley. I'm pumped to hear the work, I know you've been on it for a long bit.
It's that time again stone doomers, sorry it's been a while since I rapped at ya. Moving house is srs biznezz and the dust is slowly starting to settle. Got most of the junk where it seems happy though not wired for sound & recording yet. The new room lacks carpet and will need serious sound treatment ideas that don't look like rando rehearsal space horsesheeeit. Sharing the room with Mrs. cornfarmer and want to make it look good to her so she won't mind me dominating 80% of it with my stuff.
Also this mint condition Epi non reverse T-bird with the Geezer pickups came along for a steal of a deal, and it's being sized up for another Fenderbird conversion.....square heel, so I'm hoping maybe a Tele style bass neck might fit without firing up the router.
New to the forum. Did a search for Califone bass just to see if anyone adores them. Not too shabby a player but I’ll probably sell it off. Any interest out there?
