I really enjoyed the song
these must have been exciting years, everything in these memories is soo punk. 
I get the impression that every time time I come across a Tripod site nowadays, is while searching for long gone obscure punk (and the likes) bands. Seems an almost deliberate choice, that freaking raw, ugly, unfashionable site, for such bands
I could have never picked a name in half an hour like that. It took me 3,5 years to decide for my band, it was like giving birth to an elephant. Maybe I'm just pathologically insecure

Damnation Audio pedal. Pricey. Gets rave reviews. What I’ve seen it sounds like my modded Pork Loin, but haven’t actually played one. Regardless, it’s more than I’d like to spend for a tone that I already have.

John was a genius, and if he wasn't good at band names, he'd have had to become good at it just from the volume of bands he started. A very abbreviated list:

The Dooms U.K.
Duck Duck Annihilation
The Oval-Teens

The Dutch Treats/The Dooms were just him alone with a Tiesco Del Rey and a keyboard plugged into a Gorilla amp totally cranked, The Dooms U.K. were formed when he realized he could get much better musicians from the jazz school than the art school. We did this song a few times, but they did it better (don't listen to any of this stuff at work):

The Abominable Dr. Phibes. And it's followed by the song they got asked to stop playing when they opened for Tripping Daisy on a tour. I loves it, it speaks to my inner 15 year old, even if it is all about watersports (again, don't listen to it at work).
Sadly, Greasy Listening, their first record doesn't seem to be up on YouTube anymore. I imagine that's because of some of the samples used on it (but then again, why's Art Rock Explosion still up?)

GAS related, I'm thinking about a Bass VI or something like that (telling myself that learning an extra instruments will be good for my music theory knowledge) anybody got any experience with them?
been loving my bass vi. made me realize how much more comfortable i am on a four string and how much i had to work on the b and e
Yeah they're a ton of fun, but a little cramped at first. I have no problem going between 34" & 32", a little awkwardness down to a 30", but the short scale and the real tight string spacing is where I get a little thrown off for song or two's worth. My uncle lets me use his all the time when we jam.
Oddly enough, because I use a lot of chords normally and used to play guitar here and there, chords come easier for me than single note passages on a bass vi. Maybe I should be playing a bass vi....

Never played one. Maybe I should, I've always felt the Bass VI is one of the coolest looking instruments out there.

yeah, and next to the Squier there are now also cheap options to try it out. Harley Benton has a € 200 Bass VI variant. That makes it easier to convince the SO

I have never taken into consideration 5 or 6 strings basses, until I saw Colin Marston playing. I don't buy one 'cause I can barely play a 4 stringer, but jeeesus, if you can play, it really opens a new world of awesomeness. I would love to force more chords out of me as well... Here in Italy we're locked in again for the COVID, I'm home alone. Thanks for the links, I wish I could understand more clearly the lyrics (not fluent enough for Texan accent, I guess ) 'cause if you say "don't listen at work" I suspect I'm missing a great point of interest. Gods, this lockdown is killing me. Too much time to think, no human contact, I felt so down the last week, I have spent all day in bed. I have picked my bass again only yesterday, but my head won't cooperate, yet.
Even the only other forum I liked has died… If you know any good and very active forum to talk about GOOD movies and (noise, experimental, post-genres and avant-genres especially) music, it would be very much appreciated
I need to keep my mind busy somehow…
Now I'm doing some deep plowing on RYM, even exhumed Scaruffi (that site was so addictive the first years when I had access to an internet connection. He may have some very questionable opinions, and now it's been outclassed by larger, better organized archives, but it was a goldmine for the most experimental hidden gems back then) but I miss a place to exchange opinions about these topic so much now...

My hardcore Ric GAS hasn't gone away. Hopefully this spring-ish I can have the funds to get one. Hopefully. This pandemic has really been hard on the wallet.

Gear is something I don't even want to think about now... I had to put on sale the only expensive piece of gear I own, that I didn't really "want" to sell, but what should I do. And I'm sure I won't even be able to sell it, until I'll be so desperate to decide to undersell it for whatever price. Savings won't last so long at this pace, and my biggest fear, that the company I work for will not even exist anymore in a few months, is not unlikely.This situation is destroying every little financial security, and every little psychic balance I had. I feel totally abandoned, and helpless.
I wish the powers that be would take more account of the psychological and emotional impact of lockdowns.
Regardless, keep your head up @oZZma ... Maybe now is a good time to catch up on some reading or learn a new language or something? Lemons into lemonade and all that.

Yeah, a great lemonade would be to do some writing, if I can find the taste for playing again. I'm quite disheartened about everything right now, even this band seems cursed.
But with all this spare time, and all this gloom, I should really force myself to do something decent with that. Or at least try. During the first lockdown writing helped me. But I can't concentrate much these days. I hope this will improve once resignation prevails.
BTW sorry for the vent, and thanks for being kind and supportive… Makes me feel a little less alone.
