Hehehehe, yeah, sounds like we were there at the same time. Charlie, the bassist for Caulk was my roommate for awhile, and I knew Quincy from Sub Oslo since high school. Depending on which drummer you mean, I may know him as well. I was one of the guitarists in Duck Duck Annihilation (my user name is one of our song titles).

If I knew the first thing about pedals I'd make a clone if for no reason than for my own use. Eliminate the attack settings, and make it distortion mode only. I'd also be tempted to eliminate the footswitch and make it always-on, because there's simply no good reason to ever turn the pedal off.

I felt the same way about the attack switch at first, but it sounds like what it does is kinda useful (only on the 1st setting), does it sound like a mid boost to you?

Alright, well, here it is. It's surprisingly usable, but unusable at the same time. I didn't play around too much with settings, because I felt that this wouldn't really be about "nuance" or "subtlety". Settings are in the pics, and I used my favorite settings for the most part. I realize that's not too in depth, but again, nuance and subtlety are not the intended goal here (I assume, at least).

I started with both Arions, just to see. Incredibly grindy, loses some bass (but less than I had anticipated) and sounds glitchy on anything from the D on my A string. Usable in specific settings, but not my style. Couldn't imagine it being used for an entire song, except maybe by some noise artist or something. Still, I've heard worse bass tones, especially high gain ones.

Then I cranked one Arion into a single PD-7. This was very much a usable tone. Added some grit to the Arion, but also compressed it to be more "in your face" and seemed to recoup some bass. I could see using this for some doom or slower death metal tones no problem. Again, though, higher pitched tones often got a bit too glitchy and processed for my tastes, but I could live with it if it worked for the song. Adding the second PD-7 to this just accentuated it more. Again, usable tone, but nothing too different besides slightly more gain and treble.

Doubling up on PD-7s just sounded like a single PD-7 on distortion setting (I prefer the OD setting), but with slightly less treble. Very usable, and if the second one is on "clean" it's basically just an extra EQ boost.

Everything on sounded like a crazy glitch fest. Enough bass for low notes, but incredibly glitchy on most other stuff. Unusable for me, maybe for some noise/doom stuff. Kinda like Electric Wizard, but not really, if that makes sense. At least in that incredible wall of distortion tone, but sounding different. For me, this tone would best be served for heavy industrial type stuff. I could see it being put to use there quite well.

You're a gentleman and a scholar.

I also noticed the PD7 recouped some bass when I put it after my Morley fuzz wah. For people who like to stack, maybe the PD7 could come in handy to make other pedals more usable since the PD7 might bring back bass that would otherwise be lost.

Hehehee, thankya. We had our first show booked (we played the verse of Crimson and Clover for half an hour), and had no name. The singer came up with it off the top of his head when we asked "What's our name?" as we packed up after the last practice before the show.

Jeebus, Tripod is still active? Yep, that's me in those pics, I'm the guy who's enjoying himself wayyyyy too much. The site was set up by another one of the guitarists. That mp3 of "Ten Feet Tall" is the only recording of that very silly song that I know about, and I listen to it more often than I'm proud to admit.

The song I get my user name from is here (disclaimer: I didn't write the lyrics, and I don't think they're about me, dang that recording is brittle and bright):

A buddy and former bandmate of mine is down there, there is a scene but I don't really know how big it is. Not big enough that anyone is making any money, but you probably figured that already. See if your friend has heard of Downcity Armory.
