Hope everyone had a good Christmas, with some good booty hauls! Mine was happily low-key, good food, some nice gifts (no bass related), and the Browns almost knocked off the Pack.

Lol-Well, it was only a microdose and as it turns out that didn’t really “do” much for me…
No memorable hallucinations or anything like that…
Music sounded a bit more clear and articulate so I listened to Master Of Puppets and the Black Album while the mild effects kicked in, but otherwise it was kind of “Meh” (I felt like I just had a really strong edible and felt some mild euphoria, but beyond that it didn’t really do much for me)… :-(
Wife had tried them before and said I probably need a bigger dose…She said she felt something similar to other trips, but dosage was probably FAR below what was needed…
I had a nice time hanging with our friends who so generously shared, but personally I was kind of disappointed in my experience…
Still found time to hang with the ever reliable Mary Jane, but kind of a bummer that the other stuff didn’t do much…

This is EXCELLENT advice…
Had to remind myself today that just picking up the bass and playing still counts as “progress” towards getting better…
I’m still terrible, but jamming along to something is still trying and can be a legitimate form of practice in my book…

How do you like the Ibanez overall???…
I looked for a VERY LONG time at that bass especially last year bc originally I thought I wanted a black Ibanez for my first bass, but I couldn’t ever really find exactly what I wanted in my price range…
I looked at that bass and the 670 (which seems to be on phase out) a lot, but ultimately decided against the 800 bc it was a fanned fret and wasn’t sure I wanted to learn on that for my first instrument…
I also figured out that I’m an EMG guy so I wasn’t really wanting to buy something that high end just to swap out the pickups…
Aesthetically I also wasn’t quite sold on the color, but it looks like a GREAT instrument so I’m curious to know how you like it overall…

Yup, at least at home, the SpectraComp really did replace the Diamond on that board for me – it’s a bit more noisy than the Bass Comp, but not in a relevant way for my live board.
Different from the Diamond, I like the TC better in front of my dirt, rather than after. Weird how that worked out. Looking forward to this week’s band practice, giving this thing a shot at gig levels.
I love it. The fan is very mild and it's barely even noticeable. (I have a Dingwall NG2 for comparison and that degree of fanning is when you have to get used to it.) I might swap the pickups at some point but I'm not in a big rush (though if I did it would likely be for Nordstrands). A big caveat though: I have it tuned in fifths. Were it tuned in fourths I likely wouldn't be as enamored of it. But if you're cool with a four string tuned in fourths, it's definitely worth a look. FWIW I bought it from a shop in Colorado (Spotlight Music up in Windsor).
This was going to be my main thread for advice asking. I visit the instruction thread some, and there's a metric ton of info there, I just need to take it in small bites. I'm working on the plan right now to become better, plotting a layout of monthly goals. I'm going to start from the beginning, and work slowly to add. I've already accomplished my first goal of being the best bass player in my house. Lol.
Yeah, kinda wish they made two pedals, granted I see this as something that would fit in Death By Audio territory as well. The CB is pretty cheapo, which I get, pedal feels well built. I figured with being a limited run, I wouldn't get nailed with resale if I didn't like it. Still not sold out though, so we'll see how much I take a hit for if I'm not crazy for it.
Oddly, I have only spent maybe 5 min with it. The CB only as well, with the kiddos. Was fun, I can see a bit from the complaint ends, but I'm holding on full thoughts till I jam and see how the fuz, filter and modulation are.
Been meaning to ask if anyone here has any experience with Gremlin machine shop or their megalithic gain structures?
Looks sweet, love the idea, and I'm way tempted. Don't really need it. But I could see how it could possibly fill some holes and save some space on my board. I've been thinking about purging more than I need to on the pedal side the last wee or so.

Never heard of them but I'm curious about the Model T clone. Every now and then I get it in my head that I need some sort of Sunn preamp clone.

I didn’t have a ton of luck tracking down that bass or some others that I really wanted to try when I was searching (which is kind of bizarre IMO bc Denver is a “relatively” large city, but I feel like I’m mostly forced to look at either GC or Music Go Round-Neither of which really carried what I was looking for in terms of brands/models I wanted to try)…
I mean-I get that this isn’t NY, LA, or Las Vegas, and idk if it was COVID driven or I have really odd taste, but I feel like all of the GCs here stocks very similar instruments and most have really odd color combinations that I wasn’t interested in…
I was a little disappointed I couldn’t find anything at Drum City Guitarland (in Wheat Ridge)…
Not sure what part of the state or metro area you’re in, but that music shop is worth checking out if it’s a reasonable drive for you with the caveat that they carry a ton of Schecters bc apparently they are some sort of primary dealer for them…
Anyway, pardon the digression/tangent…
That was a REALLY long way to go to say that I will keep that music shop in mind when I start amp shopping in the future…
It can be a bit maddening to try to find out what you like online and then find out that stores in a surrounding 40-50 mile radius don’t really carry what you wanna try out…
That bass is absolutely gorgeous IMO…(If it came in solid black I probably would’ve pulled the trigger)…

Well, my GC gift cards went to buying a Moog Werkstatt-01 and a Arturia BeatStep. I've got a modeling synth, but this is my first actual analog synth.
it is awesome that there are so many Denver folks in this thread. One day we will have to plan a meet up. Brick and mortar stores really aren’t what they used to be. I know that Drum City has a ton of stuff in the back and will bring out anything you pull up on their site for you to check out. Wildwood is a very nice shop but they don’t really cater to bass players as much. It seems like the only carry high end Fender, Reverend, and Rick stuff for bass.
Speaking of local Denver folks, I guess I'll give you a first heads up that I'm likely selling my Barefaced Big Twin 2. It's in perfect condition and has a cover. I just never use it, and don't foresee myself needing it anytime soon. PM me if you're interested.
Is simply playing along and learning a song by ear considered "improving", I would think it is, due to it being ear-training of a sort.
Sounds like it to me. My goal right now is to get my pedal board/s in order and then actually start playing and practicing diligently. Almost there, I think. (Famous last words, I know, but I think it's right this time!)
