That looks awesome.Pheeeeew... that definitely took me longer than I'd hoped, shaging hell. Made some noob mistakes which took forever to figure out and fix. However: I'm happy with the results.

——————————————————-This right here is pretty much why I can't stand many people in my own country right now. Too much screaming at others and having "balanced conversations" in echo chambers. There are times when I actively seek out different opinions because I want to see the ways in which I may have overlooked things. While only 2 parties isn't ideal in my opinion, in a perfect situation, they would both keep the other in check and accountable and striving to push each other to do better in all regards without trying to be "morally superior" through legal means. Because we all know that legality doesn't equal morality...
I have my beliefs. You have yours. They may be incredibly different. None of that means either of us is a bad person or deserves anything less than absolute respect. For instance, a co-worker of mine has pretty much the polar opposite views as I do politically, but we get along famously. We even talk politics! He gets my side, I get his, we disagree (respectfully!) and MOVE ON. We work on the common ground we have to achieve our mutual goals, which benefit us both (as well as many others!). If we could get politicians to understand this...
Alright - enough of my rant for now. Sorry, been a trying week to put it lightly, and family politics was only a small part!
In bass news, my step-father-in-law (there's a mouthful) has inherited an old Peavey T-20 bass. He doesn't know how to play, but his father - who owned a music store for many years - recently passed. He decided to keep the bass. As far as I can tell, it's basically mint except for needing a truss rod adjustment - the action is FAR too high. Hoping to be able to get it back in playable shape with him in the near future. Would be a fun little project. I hear they're solid basses, but have never actually played a Peavey instrument. I do, however, love their guitar amps.
—————————————————————-All in one evening? Man, you've been busy!
——————————————————-
Meanwhile all I really wanna do is work, workout, play music, and be left alone…
And I’ve never played a Peavy bass either, but isn’t that the bass that’s supposedly borderline indestructible/built like a tank???…

—————————You're quite welcome.
I mean, I don't WANT to work, but I don't mind it necessarily. I need things to do and would get bored too quickly otherwise. But other than that, agree 100% with everything else. I'm actually trying to work in half an hour of bass playing each night now. Gotta make it a habit. After jamming with someone a few days ago, I'm learning "Seasons in the Abyss". Pretty simple, but satisfying to actually learn a tune. I can play it no problem, but have to memorize it now, which really just means listening to it over and over while I practice.
In regards to Peavey - yeah, probably. (EDIT: That thread references the T-40, the T-20's big brother. Still, likely as indestructible!) Depending who you ask, they're either terrible or indestructible and amazing as a company. I tend to lean towards the amazing part, but what do I know? Their guitar amps have served me well and I have nothing to complain about.
I hate to tell you this, but you should probably edit this post.S&x, drugs, and Metal are pretty much the holy trinity of fun in my book…
I absolutely love my Peavey 208 combo. I've never played one of their basses though, unfortunately. The T-40, Cirrus...they definitely seem to have put out some serious instruments.
Where did you get that purple pick guard? I'm looking for a cool color to add to my Sonic Blue P bass. The only purple pearl pick guard I can find are on Amazon from Chinese sellers.Pheeeeew... that definitely took me longer than I'd hoped, shaging hell. Made some noob mistakes which took forever to figure out and fix. However: I'm happy with the results.

I’ve looked at getting a head or a cab from them based on their prices…
Lol-Yes-Love ‘em or hate ‘em definitely seems to sum up how most people feel about that company…
I have noticed that there are a lot of people on TB that love them…
As for practice-Good for you man!
My current goal is an hour, but some days a full hour doesn’t happen-I think it’s the habit of trying daily that’s more crucial than the duration…
Keep practicing man…It WILL pay off even if it doesn’t feel like it <——lol-At least that’s what I tell myself when I go to practice when I don’t feel like it (like tonight-I really didn’t feel much like playing, but after I started on some Maiden tabs I wasn’t sorry I took time to practice…In fact-I don’t think I’m ever “sorry” I practice even when I don’t have a very good one…
Seasons is a great album in my book…As a side note-I’ve gotta say it was a LONG journey for me before I finally dug Slayer…
Reign In Blood is definitely their best album, but I struggled to like it for a while (it sounded too “cartoonish” /over the top to me at first)…
South Of Heaven was the album that really turned me onto them…
I friggin’ LOVE that opening riff to that album…
It is a VERY short list to find a Metal riff that sounds more evil and ominous than the intro to that song/album (the riff on Cemetery Gates and Am I Evil…maybe???)…
Nowadays my preference is Reign In Blood for my favorite album by them after giving it a lot more spins, but I never would’ve gotten there without South Of Heaven & almost weekly I listen to Reign/South Of Heaven/and Seasons all in a row…
It’s kind of cool to listen to all 3 of those albums in a row bc you can hear how much they experimented and grew and developed which is REALLY saying something considering Reign is largely considered one of the greatest Thrash Metal albums of all time…(That sounds like a “lot” but all three albums together still come in under two hours so it’s almost like listening to a double album when you do it like that even though it’s actually 3 albums over 5 years)…An impressive collection of Metal to say the least…
Still a bit bummed I never got to see them live…
Anyway, you have some GOOD taste in songs you are learning IMO… ;-)
Thanks! \m/
—————————————————————————I'll be honest - Slayer is actually one of my least favorite bands... (And there goes my "metal street cred".) Not that they don't deserve their reputation and all that, I just never got into them. They don't "do it" for me. I'm learning the song because the person I jammed with knows it, and it was fun to jam. I also feel like I could play both bass and rhythm guitar on the track, and since I'm trying to play more bass/guitar in general, it's a good one to start on. While I've listened to most of their discography (because I'm a crazy metalhead completist who WANTS to "get it"), they often leave me cold. If memory serves, Seasons in the Abyss was my favorite album, but South of Heaven was darn good too. I also really like "God Hates Us All", or at least a few of the songs on that album. A buddy of mine knows them better than I do, and it seems that I'm more a Hanneman fan than a Slayer fan, since pretty much all of the songs of theirs I like were penned by him.
But if we're talking Slayer extended family, Exodus is top-notch. Gary Holt is one of my favorite guitarists! Not that I can play any of his stuff, but such an amazing catalog. One day, I'll learn some of their stuff on guitar and bass too.
I think I'll also pick up some old Metallica tab books. Call me old-fashioned, but a lot of the time, I like having the tab books. Keeps me from looking it up online and ending up distracted on TB!
——————————I hate to tell you this, but you should probably edit this post.![]()
Heard nothing but great things about both. I really want one of those werkstatts.
300% of your recommended daily allowance of flanger.
I bet that T-20 will sound good. I really like the pickup in them. I've had two T-40s, a Fury and a Dyna-bass, all solid instruments. I can't even remember how many of their amps I've played thru over the years. I'll stop there before I start looking on Reverb.

@kleinenenten and @El_Charro :
Back in the day, Slayer was a band I instantly "got" on the first listen. At the time, it was annihilation on a musical scale we hadn't seen before. It was still probably 1990 before I really liked them to the point where I was happy as hell if the playback before a show included them, or someone I met knew their riffs. I'm sad I never got to see them live in their glory days.
Let's face it, everything is an acquired taste. At the time, Megadeth was comparatively easy to digest, and Ministry's The Land of Rape and Honey was both heavy as hell and had its dance-able points. <Looks nervously at the exits> I mean, the past is a foreign country - they do things differently there.
Well, after a day or so with the Werkstatt, and a few days with the BeatStep, I'm far more impressed with the former than the latter. Don't get me wrong, both are pretty nice. But even after having to make a trip to get a power supply for the Moog because I bought it used, I'm more annoyed with the Arturia requiring a Windows or Mac app to access some of its features. I have both available in the house and have used them to mess with it, but I do most of my recording, etc. on a Linux workstation. Saving and switching is a pain when I was using it for a MIDI controller before the Moog arrived. It's my fault for going "ok, CV and cheap enough" and not researching further, but I dislike hardware that requires external software to control it. I'll probably research more before I get my next sequencer/CV interface.
The Moog, on the other hand, just makes me want to fool with it constantly and fantasize about what else I'm going to try plugging into it's filter next. Even with the sequencer I barely like, it's a fantastic time sink learning what it can do.
I'm not offended by your remark at all! In fact I can sort of imagine it although I'm not the same.——————————
Apologies if I offended you (or anyone else for that matter including any Mod)…
I went back on the thread and didn’t see where I could Edit/Delete, but will take it down if I can figure out how to do it…
-I’ve been actively listening to Metal since I was 17
So... now you're seventeen, with twenty-five years of experience.I’m now almost 42

This is one of those insights for me, that I've never thought of, but as soon as I read it I know it must be true. This must be (part of) how things work.I have wondered in the past if Metal bands are kinda like NFL teams - you have your favorites and you have teams that you absolutely CANNOT stand, but there’s not always a rhyme or reason as to why you like some teams and loathe others…
