Seriously, some folks don't understand what "works well enough" means.
Edited to add: It's like the guy who designed the Pinto telling you that on a long trip the cooling system will never support the 351 Cleveland you've put in it, ignoring the fact that it's generally going to only do a 1/4 mile at a time.

Yeah, it requires a Steam account. Don't remember if Uplay as well (Ubisoft and EA are really bad with requiring their proprietary bullcrap in most of their games - even if they don't need any online features). As mentioned, you need the official Rocksmith cable, which is like $20. If you want custom DLC, you need to buy the Cherub Rock DLC and go to CustomsForge.
I need to get back to it. Haven't played since I got an interface, since I couldn't get the fan-patch to make it use standard ASIO input to work (and obviously the interface is better sounding). I guess better really is the enemy of good.
Yeah, that's one of the shapes I like way more on bass than guitar. Not that I dislike the latter version.
Also, for whatever reason the guitar version gives me some Visual Kei vibes, while the bass gives me no such association. Not that I know any VK musicians playing this shape, or even be into the scene at all. Just a weird random feeling.

Lol-I (sadly) really empathize with this even though I didn’t go chase down whatever you posted to the general forum…
One of my last posts to the general forum was about the differences in playing by ear vs using tablature as a jump off point…
You would think I would committed total blasphemy/heresy for asking this question (To be fair-not all responses were negative mind you, but a lot of responses had a SUPER pretentious/elitist type vibe)…
I get that if you are a touring jazz musician you probably need to be able to read standard notation and probably need to know a lot of music theory…
While I have a general knowledge of music theory and still remember some music symbols from when I took piano and choir as a kid and in middle school-If I end up starting a band-Mostly I’m gonna wanna smoke something fun and maybe drink some beer while attempting to play some Metal (probably poorly, but who cares-It’s a HOBBY and not my livelihood…
And for the love of Lemmy-Please don’t get me started on how they constantly look down/turn up their noses on the Metal genre in general…
But hey-Whatever man…This forum is still here and the people that post on here remind me why I love playing and why I love the music I do…I also like that people on here can (respectfully) discuss a few non-music issues or random things even if it leads to some bizarre (and often amusing) tangents…
Forum is practically a sanctuary to me at this point…
I may severely lack talent, but I still love music and I REALLY appreciate how non-judgmental people on this forum are…
I always feel welcome on this thread regardless of the discussion and hopefully you do too…

Completely agree-Something about the F series guitars-They don’t look “bad” by any stretch, but something about the body shape makes it look odd/off with a shorter neck attached to that body shape…
It’s some sort of weird optical illusion as far as I can tell…
The bass version of that particular shape however looks like it could wake up Satan if need be (which might be your goal depending on what sub genre you’re playing)…

I've seen them go on full blown meltdowns, posting multiple paragraphs complaining about how unfair life is.... because something they wanted to play was in drop D.
Then someone in the comments posted saying how utterly impossible it is to play in anything other than E standard, how their neck bowed like a bannana because they tuned their bass down half a step. They even tightened their truss rod to just beyond the point of breaking to no avail.
You want to play in drop D? buy a 5 string, another commented.
Just make sure you break out some jiffy pop if you browse the general forum.
Yeah, I'm probably one of the longest "tenured" posters on this thread, and it's always been a very welcoming, open-minded clubhouse. I think a lot of that comes from the headspace of the shrub crowd. A "Let your freak flag fly." ethos is common in that arena.—————————————-

To the example of music theory/tab/ear learning, I can agree with the idea of having a good knowledge of theory and such being good. More knowledge, while not necessary, certainly can't hurt.
I always liked Frank Zappa's take on this. He learned all the rules (aka music theory) so he could bend and break them.

Same thing with most abstract artists, like Mondriaan.
I've always been more of the Sniffing Glue person myself (this is one chord, this is another, now form a band) and only lately been more busy with music theory
Zappa was incredible. Of all the musical greats that are gone, he's the one I'd resurrect first if I could.

I love Zappa as a song writer and guitar player. Sure, many of his lyrics were silly, but his music always manages to resonate with me. My favourite guitar solo has to be this Live Version of Sofa No. 1 (starting at around 1:15):

I feel the same way about Zappa as I do the Dead: massive respect and appreciation even if not an active fan. Regarding silliness, I’m certain that whatever underpins reality has more in common with Zappa’s complexity and absurdity than I-IV-V nursery rhymes about god, momma and beer (which I also love dearly)
