I actually discovered TB because of this thread. When I was just starting out I was Googling for who knows what and somehow I ended up with one of the search results being in this thread (or one of the earlier parts of the thread). I ended up finding where the bass player from Bongripper had posted a couple tracks that were only the bass and drums, and figured I'd better start hanging around here more.

This place is for anything and everything except carrots, tort, "jazz vs p", "big amps bad," & "no shorts on stage". Other than those, swing away. Lol
If John Dwyer and Osees can make it all rock like they do, wearing shorts, then my vote is that shorts can be okay on stage.

And I'm fscking militant about playing in shorts. I play in Texas, so I'm fscking going to play in shorts for 60% of the year.
The other 40%, it's probably going to be bib overalls. So you're either looking at my scarred up drumsticks or I look like an extra on Hee-Haw. I'm wearing bib overalls, so you can imagine how hard you're going to have to work to get me to care about what you think of my appearance. It will probably involve cash, and when the cash dries up, so will my ability to care.
I don't even smoke weed and they still put up with me in here. It's a good thread...and thorough.

Those are the best kinds of things. I love oddballs for just making cool zany stuff. When free time becomes a little more available to us, my buddy and I are planning on doing a weird side project with no rules and no limit. Noise, drone, jazz, trash punk, shoelace, synth doom and stoner, funk, dub, maybe even some country. No limits, just cool ass sounds. Wilder, the better.
Those are the best kinds of things. I love oddballs for just making cool zany stuff. When free time becomes a little more available to us, my buddy and I are planning on doing a weird side project with no rules and no limit. I am going to steal this as the first record title in the soon to be born Doomgazer genre.
I'd trim it down to simply Just Sounds, for that purpose.

For sure. Best part is between all our friends and us, there's enough musical talent and recording know how to get something put together.
We've sporadically over the years have come together as a collective and so many bands and jams have come out of the dozen or so of us. Latest project (I'm not a part of) is some rad jammy stuff called Moscow Mexico out of Lansing. Either way, the drummer is the hands down most well versed guy I know. Student of the art for sure, dedicated practitioner, and been in every kind of band I can think of.
Eitherway, ton of fun to play with and loves to explore sounds and styles. With things loosening up and being easier, and the kiddos getting a bit older, it's looking like it can finally be a reality.
