Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

No, no, no. CAMPING. Definitely NOT hiking! No backpacks or carrying stuff for long distances, just a nice tent, hanging outside, maybe floating down a river during the day, and relaxing by the fire at night. No way I'm hiking with cast iron! If I were hiking, I'd be doing everything as light as possible.
We’ve got cast iron, carbon and some fancy ss. Current stove is a POS glass top that heats very inconsistently. Cast iron’s mass evens it out. It’s like a compressor for your stove.
My GF is way more into trendy eateries than I am. Red flags for me are 1 page front & back menus where an entire side is “dialed in” cocktails, over use of the terms “house” and “hand” and curiously small seating areas.

Hey guys, first time I‘m writing here, perhaps you can help me. I‘m currently looking for a cabinet to replace my Hartke 410 hydrive and 115. I play a Ampeg SVT cl and the aluminum cone speakers I used for my Black Metal band just don’t sound like I want it for the Stoner Metal Band. Also they are both 8Ohm and it’s annoying to always have to bring two cabinets.
So now I‘m looking for a cabinet that‘s good with downtuning and fuzz and has 4 or 2 Ohm.

Well, I do have something: check out a French band named Slift. Not doom, more of a heavy psychedelic thing. I dig them a lot.

Slift were awesome at this year's Roadburn festival... Just sayin'.
There should be a ton of good options, though if you're looking for a single cab you probably won't find any that run at 2 ohms. I'm surprised a 4x10 + 1x15 can't get you where you want to be since that sounds perfect for stoner metal, but I've never played the aluminum speakers so I don't have a good reference. Any other criteria? Budget? Weight? The obvious choices to pair with an SVT are the SVT-410HLF, SVT-610, and SVT-810E. I used to have the rackmount SVT tube amp with the 410HLF and it sounded great with a Gibson EB0 and some overdrive. I didn't play downtuned by I'm sure it would handle it no problem.
I use a fender rumble 4x10 and it gets the job done. Head is an SVT CL clone (allegedly) and the cab can run at 4 or 8 ohms. Definitely gonna have trouble finding 2 ohm cabs that aren't 8x10s from what I experienced. The fender rumble combo amps have always been too sterile sounding to me, but running the cab with a head with some baked in tone has worked well for me. I play all kinds of stuff with this rig.

So... in eight days I'll be on stage for the first time (not counting the one time I was forced to butcher a classical guitar in front of a crowd when I was 11). 21 songs, some orignals and some covers (no Stoner stuff though). I'm not certain how to feel about that. However, I'm not nervous (at least now). Being a teacher seems to help somewhat.
Ayyy just had my first real paying show this past weekend. Don't let the live jitters get ya I'm sure you'll do great!
Have fun! I feel like the absence of live music over the last couple years means people are a bit more stoked than usual to see it. I don't generally get nervous going on stage, but these completely ridiculous 'checks' work for me when playing live. It's two quick things to check in on when you start the first song...

My stoner dad rock band just dropped this “single.” I’m super damn happy with it and am excited to get back in there for some more recording. Tony Reed from Mos Generator mastered it and made it sound huge.
This is just a goof to experiment with modular synth but I threw in some doom-ish guitar/bass...

I like it, and I'm jealous of your drum sounds. What are you using for the snare rolls? A snare sample? A real snare?
Apropos of nothing, I'm catching up after spending a week in Vegas for work. Super not fond of that town, and I got exposed to covid, to boot. I probably should try to turn that into lyrics.

My friend sent me this video one day a few years ago at random. It's a 2 piece drum and bass group. I noticed that they had a show a few days away, so my friend and I went to it. It was in some basement in a college town. They were EXTREMELY loud. This was a few years ago, and there may or may not have been some mind altering substances being passed around in there, but I remember a number of gigantic Mesa cabinets.
My friend sent me this video one day a few years ago at random. It's a 2 piece drum and bass group. I noticed that they had a show a few days away, so my friend and I went to it. It was in some basement in a college town. They were EXTREMELY loud. This was a few years ago, and there may or may not have been some mind altering substances being passed around in there, but I remember a number of gigantic Mesa cabinets.
It's a kick module into a distortion/drive, into delay (that's the rolls...I used only the wet output of the delay), into spring reverb, into a stereo reverb:
