For me it wasn't a string thickness thing (I use a .130 low B), but rather that the slot and little positioning indentations on the sides are spaced for guitar strings. So on guitar, you can let it rest on strings you're not using, but on bass, you have to angle it and suspend it in the same position in mid-air.

The old method was I'd just quote everything individually and fill up about a page and a half. :p

Also unrelated, but I've gotten the e-bow to work on my bass. Kinda difficult, though, because it's designed more for guitar.

Really loved using my ebow got high one day and decided I could fix the string spacing issue. Needless to say it doesn't work any more.
Peter Steele supposedly had a Fernandes bass with Sustainer pickups in it. Which are (if I understand the patents correctly), very very similar to an ebow.

Actually, according to their page, Glynn Reeves sources parts out of the U.K. for them in addition to giving *insert brainfart and cause for edit* them his blessing/endorsement.

I think if things don't work out down here, I might move to the northwest sometime. It's like Arcata but moreso, in terms of weather, I hear. And to me, that's perfect.

I also can't deal with the lack of mountains back east (meaning, anywhere east of the continental divide). Growing up in the middle of the bay area, I'm used to very short horizons, enclosed by mountains/hills on every side but part of one. Flat land all around is strange to me.

I've thought about contacting Conrad, possibly getting his C4 preamp and rigging that into some type of tube power amp. Dunwich is another possibility, I'd like to pick up a Cthulhu fuzz at some point. The Hiwatt/Hi-Tone is just always been an amp I've wanted to use, and I don't mind if it sounds a little different than my Sunns, a little variety is sometimes an alright thing. I usually crank my mids all the way anyways, and keep the bass down, and these supposedly already have plenty of low-end, so no worries not getting enough thump with the mids I can't imagine. Mostly I'm going for that hifi sound, right on the edge of breakup, which I hope could be achieved with the independent volume controls and master, but idk. But hey, I emailed the guys just to ask a couple questions about cosmetics (I'm a stickler for my amps' appearances, was asking about the different badges (metal vs. plastic), I know, I know, minor poopie, but I just have to have it just so), and just asked if the happened to have ever made a slave. Well, turns out they haven't, and I'm the first to ask, but they absolutely could, and will add a slave out to the HT200. I mean, I don't have the cash flow, but c'mon, DR201 plus STA200? Oh F**K YEAH.

It's funny you're thinking of moving north, I'm thinking about heading to the bay area after I'm done with school (I'm thinking about a couple places, but that's high on my list). I know what you mean about the mountains though. Despite living on an island, it's pretty much mountains anyway you look. Olympics to the South, Cascades to the East, and the Vancouver Island Ranges to the west.
