Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Should be good to blow off some steam, chill or not.
I just got some leave approved too won't be until next month though. A Friday after Thursday concert out of town. Should be chill though its a Tori Amos concert with the Mrs. Hoping to sit and drink but haven't found out if the theater serves libations.

Man come on coffee. Monday and Tuesday I had like nine hours of pretty intense map software training and can't get back in the swing of work today. Fun part of the training was the instructor's accent, he was from MI I think. I kept wanting to ask him to say Da Bearz! Every time he would say the package part of map layer package was awesome, like he was mad at the word or something as it was so forced. Now I want to go back where I grew up and here every one say Youz Guyz. Man I love accents and lazy eyes, so entertaining.

I finally got my iMac formatted and listed for sale on the local CL. We'll see how fast it moves, hopefully I can defray some of the costs of an upcoming building project or something with it. Still waiting on new cables to get my new iMac hooked up to my interface, they should be here tomorrow I think.

I've also got a couple jam sessions scheduled with drummers this weekend. Really hoping this breaks the streak of sitting on the couch in my underwear all weekend, bummed out because someone cancelled lol.

How well do macs retain their value? I've only ever had PCs(by choice) and used they're worthless.

Good luck with that!

I received my kickass free drum machine last night - Thanks Mr. K-Chang! - So now it's time to get down to bidness laying down some rough song ideas. Hopefully that will lead to more jamming in the near future. Everyone's so damn busy it's hard to get all of us together.

Also toying with the idea of taking tomorrow and Friday off, not sure what I'd do though.

It was full of homemade apricot schnapps when I got it. I really miss the schnapps.
I was at my buddie's Halloween party like two years back and one of his neighbors does home brewing and he had this stuff called wineshine. It wasn't all harsh like moonshine like it had a slight fruit flavor but just tasted so damn good and went down smooth. Every time I google wineshine I get a different type of liquor, like it is too broad a term or something or he just whipped up something and called it that. Wish I could have a vat of that in the house and I rarely drink anymore it was that tasty.

Apparently they hold their value pretty well. This is the first one I've owned, only ever had IBM PC clones in the past as well. The only reason I've had Macs now is because of running Logic for recording. If there were a reliable PC solution for it, I'd probably go that route just out of my typical utilitarian sensibilities. If I could get a matte black rack mounted computer with nothing but exactly what I needed to run Logic X and connect to the internet, it'd be in my recording desk right now.

Free stuff is the best stuff.

Drinking has gotten difficult for me as I've aged. Gotta be really picky about what I put in me as even small amounts of crap give me hangovers.
Last week I got a case of dos equis in a fit of nostalgia. Had a hangover after only one. I call that bullllllshiit.

+1. On average I only have 2 beers annually. Sucks because I love the taste of a good Rogue ale.

I do drink often not trying to say I'm sober. More of a certain things aren't that bad compared to others.
I talk alot about black ales and lagers because they often don't have repercussions for me the following day. Generally porters and stouts are just fine too.
American-style lagers and pilsners kill me long before I get a buzz so no fun for me.
Holy hell I'm a bet snob too... dammit.

I love me some Guinness, Yuengling Black N Tan, and Yuengling Porter. I love black N blues(Guinness and Blue Moon). I whooped it up this year at a cook out and had 3 Yuengling Black N Tans. Oh and Ciders, especially when I can find some Woodchuck pear cider!!! Oh and as cheesy as it is, I love me some Ruinite on Ice, a tumbler full of ice with Lambrusco or D'oro is summer time bliss. Yeah no real reason for it, I just don't drink much these days anymore. Haven't burned in a while since feeling like I may want to make a career move too.

Bought a new solder iron, since the solder station thingy I bought from Harbor Freight sucked arse. Swapped the forever bass to 500K pots all around, wired the mudbucker in parallel to match the single coil pup better(much better now). Tone pot didn't work, though, not sure if it is the pot, the cap, or I screwed up and overheated it or the cap, or since it is such a tight area I broke the contact shoving everything in place, easy fix though. The one store sold me a used pot though and that is the one I used for the tone pot so that might be it LOL. The parallel wiring of the mudbucker did the job of taming the volume enough to play a bit better with my pedals and gave more mids and highs which is nice for a pup set right against the fretboard. Even in parallel that mudbucker still makes the Bassic go BOOM! No one was home so I finally got to crank the Terror/Bassic somewhat till I got nervous about the window behind it rattling LOL. Now I want Ron's Dually or a 1515/66 and, and, and... even though I would never need one lol

I've had the drinkin' itch the last few days. Just need to find a drinking buddy or go out and socialize. My wife doesn't drink much anymore - with two jobs she doesn't really ever have a non-work night anyway. I go through long stretches where the idea of a drink of any sort is just not appealing - then I'll go for a few weeks having 1-2 a day. The hangovers definitely get worse as I get older, sometimes it's just not worth it.

I think lately I'm just wanting to blow off some steam. Work has been stressing me out, haven't been able to jam and knock back a couple beers in a while either. I could use some fun.

I miss the socializing aspect too. When the migraines went daily I fell out of my social circle.
