missed opportunity to make the whole thing green.

Any of you use Abominable Pedals? A local store was having a sale, so I went down to check it out, and they had their Hail Satan Deluxe. I've heard good things about the brand before, but man - it didn't do much for me. I was legitimately surprised. Probably more oriented towards guitar, as it really seemed to thin out my bass tone and had a very raspy high end treble bit. Not my bass Muff tone for sure. In a similar vein, I tried out the Way Huge Conspiracy Theory and Havalina Fuzz there too. Neither did anything for me - but the demos make them sound great on guitar and Way Huge stuff is usually just as good on bass.. Guess it's all for the best - I can keep my money in the bank!

How's everyone else's Saturday going?

Not bad, taking care of some stuff round the house. And realizing that beef and beer my body does not like in combo anymore. It's weird, the older I get the more beef, especially, does not agree with my body. Still love steaks, but I'm definitely gonna go for chicken, pork, and fish now.

Last night was awesome, got to see 3 bands I've wanted to for a long time and just haven't been able to. Red Fang, Dino Jr, and Clutch. Kinda reconfirmed that although the music is solid, Clutch doesn't quite do it for me. Great performance and whatnot, but for whatever reason I'd only consider myself a casual fan of em.

Mascis killed it though, his gain stacking is something else. Just really cuts through the mix. Oh and he played a Ric bass on a song. Sounded damn good! Rad fang was badass too! Don't know why they aren't bigger.

Sorry for the crap photos

I 100% agree on Clutch. Got a buddy who is a huge fan, and I can't say exactly why I don't enjoy them more, but I just don't. One of those weird things.

Im kind of new here. Not sure if these belong. I Fn' love these guy's!!! Anyone else listen to them?.

I am also a real big fan of this one man entity. Spiritually uplifting and therapeutically cleansing

It's been an odd weekend. Saw Oppenheimer, it was a good movie, but not great. I dunno, I'm familiar with the story from other things, so there wasn't too much new for it to reveal. Maybe they didn't make it for me.

That sucks, but of course if I was offered a choice of well prepared chicken fried steak and equally well prepared fried chicken I'd probably have to think awhile.

In related news: I'm starting to get a sneaking suspicion I'm allergic to wheat. Ugh, I live for bread and breaded fried food. If my suspicions are confirmed, I expect I'll have few problems writing gloomy, self-pitying music for a few months.

I think he's been the master of that for ages. I saw them earlier this year, and it was really basically as good as when I saw them in the early 90s, only it wasn't nearly as blisteringly loud this time (all of the shows I've seen this year seem to manage the volume and balance better. I've come out of the last few without my ears ringing!). Looks like Lou is still playing the Gibson he was playing earlier this year, verrrry niiice.

We're an elcectic bunch here. I think those are well within what we post fairly regularly!

The first one reminds me of Paradise Lost, or maybe early Katatonia. Can't place it - it's definitely close to some bands I enjoy, but not ones that I play often. Got to be in the right mood for it.

And the second one gives me Burzum vibes (in a good way) musically. (Hopefully, it's one of the few similarities!) Specifically his more ambient electronic stuff. It's good to zone out to when you need some good droning music that you enjoy, but won't distract you.

I've been running my Reface YC fake organ through the low gain input in my bass head. It sounds really nice for practice, but I kinda think it'd be cooler if I ran the stereo outs at least when we record. Plus, live it'd allow the sound guy to go ahead and set the volume of the organ independently of the bass. I'd miss the grit the head adds to the organ sound, though. So, the obvious answer to me would be a stereo overdrive. Thinking about picking up a used EHX Operation Overlord at the moment, but I figured I'd ask you guys if you had any favorites.

So, anyone got a favorite stereo preamp/overdrive that wouldn't break the bank?
