Meant to show ya this one. It's wild, not to mention the light show and graphics are only beat by the semi unpredictable control and randomness.
I gotta figure out how to upload a clip again.
I like mine a lot. It's not as neat as the Drunk Droid, or the Solar Storm, or the Rainbotron, but it is satisfyingly noisy. I need to try chaining it in with its pals, because that's always fun. If I have one gripe, I would like an external way to trigger it or control it's rate other than the knob. But, that's probably a lot to ask for these one-off pedals.
Same, one of these days I gotta find one of those rainbotrons.
I know he's got a bunch of stuff going on, it seems like he really likes doing these creative batches. If he's only taking a short break from the last run till the next one I'll be thrilled. Eitherway, hell of a run, and I'm so glad I stumbled on it.

Nothing special going on here in the Kaa lair. No new gear, no band with whom to have drama. Pretty much just playing along with the iPad in the basement. I have come to accept this as my foreseeable future, and am quite content with it.
Oh, I did see John5 on Thursday night at a small bar. Guy is truly impressive in his ability to play anything. He didn't have a live bass player, to my chagrin, but he did have a live drummer. Now one band that opened for him, the bass player had a sweeet Traynor stack, using a '66 YBA with a '65 under it as a back up. Sadly, I was on the wrong side of the stage to hear him well.

Seriously, I just got this today, but this might be my favorite Super-Fuzz variant. Totally usable and great EQ controls, tons of Super-Fuzz octave fuzz on tap, and you can run the voltage anywhere between 4-18V. Plus, it glows in the dark!

Seriously, I just got this today, but this might be my favorite Super-Fuzz variant. Totally usable and great EQ controls, tons of Super-Fuzz octave fuzz on tap, and you can run the voltage anywhere between 4-18V. Plus, it glows in the dark!

, non-glow in the dark) production*. I love it, and want to stick it on my board. When they go regular production, I'll decide whether I want to pay the additional cash to be a collector nerd. It can go from a choked, sputtery, thin and nasty fuzz with it low; to varying amounts of muddiness on to what I think of as the sound of my blue+orange original; on to crazy kind of crystal clear highs; to piercing highs; then to a weird state where I don't even know what it's doing. It seems to be folding in on itself at that point. And all of that was with the EQ set to "generally Super-Fuzz with the mid scoop on" tone settings.
*Oooooo, maybe he'll do a bunch of uniquely colored runs like he's done with the Whataphasers, but in different glow-in-the-dark colors! It doesn't really solve my limited run problem with using and abusing it, but maybe my dumb tuckus won't find it quite so precious.

I ordered a humble new ProCo Rat2. Nuthin' fancy. Just need it to do moderate dirt for recording and for when wall-to-wall octave fuzz is overkill.

I feel ya, that's about the only reason I didn't get in on the first run. I ended up selling my wild Kyle for the same reason. I wanted to use it, so why would I abuse essentially a collector's item. Donnie signed those one's right?
I'm oddly in this weird place where I'm really comfortable with just picking up stuff I know I will use for projects, or to have that circuit/type of sound covered for whatever. I'm game to explore new stuff, but I'm just fine with what I've got.
Got a few things I want to pick up and I'm just moving stuff I don't use anymore bit by bit instead of stretching myself thin. It's kinda weird, I used to never do this.
In other non related news, been woodshedding a ton and setting up some jams with the guys. Stoked to hear they wanna start getting back at it too.
I'm slowly getting there with all of my stuff. Been offloading a good deal of stuff lately, and am finally having success in getting non-flaky buyers. But I'm also really debating getting rid of a bunch more pedals I doubt I'd use, even if I really do like them. I'm thinking of maybe thinning the herd to 2 varieties of each kind of dirt I like (so only 2 Rats, 2 Muffs, etc.) and then keeping a single variant of "flavor" effects like envelope filter, phaser, flanger, etc. This would thin out my Way Huge collection considerably, mostly because I don't need those effects, though they're each top-notch for their intended purpose, which is why I have most of them...
I've also been woodshedding and learning more Amon Amarth. Nothing challenging, but fun. I'm also going through various bands and listening to their entire discographies in chronological order. It's a fun mental game to see how some have progressed. Amon Amarth is the current band, and I'll say that as much as I love them, they haven't really progressed at all! They're incredibly consistent and have pretty much had their same style since day one, albeit their production value has been upgraded consistently.
Finally, I decided to start to overhaul my digital music library and clean up all the metadata etc. My eventual goal is to get a modded iPod (because I still LOVE my old iPod!) that has extra memory and just put ALL of my music on it. It'll take a while to clean all this up, get the album art, and format it how I like, but it's a good mindless task that keeps me out of trouble. And I can watch a movie or listen to a discography as I do it, so I'm multi-tasking on things that I'm trying to accomplish anyway. A win-win in my book.

Yep, if it was just glow in the dark, I probably wouldn't really have a second thought about trucking it around and beating on it. But since I went to art school, it being signed by the guy who did the artwork means something itself, and I don't want to damage it.
So yeah, I've pretty much resigned myself to being the collector nerd I am and relegating this particular one to the home. I'll grab a less precious one when he produces more, and that will probably be my regular duty Super-Fuzz. Because damn yes, it is a killer mod of that circuit, and it was already the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster of fuzz circuits, in my opinion. Atarimatt just went and added a rainbow of ways to enjoy it.
And of course, I still haven't tasted a Heavy Weapon in person yet, and I really wanna. So he's probably going to get a bit more of my money this year, even if he doesn't issue any new mystery pedals.
@kleinenenten yeah that's a good idea on the chronological and just getting stuff sorted. I legit need to organize my stuff. Music, records, books, movies, photos. I've been purging a bunch lately.
I feel ya on the variants, I always try to see how distinct they can/can't be in a mix. That informs a lot of whether I keep more than a couple similar pedals, personally. Modulation is way more difficult as the flavors can have that one thing the others can't.
@scabpicker great to hear, the clip made it so hard not to pull the trigger. The heavy just blows my mind. Wicked cool to get some really well sitting SF and muff mixed sound, then kick in the Blower side and it can get so much added clarity and really sit on top of a mix so distinctly.

I'm purging as I clean/organize/sort/update/whatever. It's real easy to hit that delete button for a digital collection! There are some old bands that I've had for almost 2 decades, and I haven't even had the urge to listen to in almost as long. I've decided that in those situations, they're just gone! Don't need to waste my time or hard drive space if it's been that long, especially since I'm still listening to new stuff and adding to the collection. I'm roughly a quarter of the way through my collection now, which is honestly a lot farther along than I thought I'd be. I'm organizing about 10-20 bands a day in my digital collection, while listening to music the whole time. I finished Amon Amarth yesterday, and am onto Amorphis today. At this rate, I'll take about a month to complete everything. It'll probably be longer, as I'm sure I can't keep it up every day, but I had assumed this would take numerous months, so that's still a great improvement.
I definitely get the different tones for pedal. I'm currently digging the Tremond as my Rat, but it definitely can't do all that the Volt Thrower can, and neither quite does the Bass Mountain either... And I'm pretty well set on my Muff tones, as the Swollen Pickle can do most of it, but I think I'll probably end up with a few extra varieties of Muff because I use it on guitar and bass boards, so I can justify a little bit more variety there. For whatever reason, Rats on guitar don't do much for me - I feel like the tones I like from them are better served by my high gain pedals. Whatever.
