This is my everyday. Lol. Me and my bandmate are early 40s and we regularly are the elder statesmen of the shows we play. Kill it up there. No one cares or has ever cared that we are "old" if you kick ass.

You all probably have heard this one but this just came out, pretty early contender for album of the year for me. Looks like the bassist is using an ECG aluminum neck. I always wanted one >

Sounds like it was a damn good session @scabpicker, I have only had one even close to that in my career (albeit very limited). Many of mine have been pretty solid, but not like it was knocked out of the park, then I've also had one that felt like I was getting a used salesman. Brutal time.
Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say I took a chance and came up big on cabs. So glad I didn't pass it up. Just gotta figure out how it's truly wired and which model eminence, but they feel like neo and it brings the slam and thunder like you wouldn't believe from a 70s guitar cab. Thing rips and I didn't even push my amp half as hard as with my other cab. Oh and it sounds amazing.
Suffice to say, my 610 is going on the chopping block.

Lmao! Just checked, those drivers are 35w guitar speakers with a "usable" range of 80-5khz...if they sound that good and handled my ABM, I can't even wait to see what a legit bass speaker can do in that cab.
And the speakers I'd like to put in will only collectively weigh 16lbs more.

I've been practicing more.
Getting hooked on Dopelord, Belzebong, Telekinetic Yeti, and Spelljammer (and more, but they've been on replay the most recently).
Still having my internal debate about whether I prefer pick or fingers. I mean, I tend to prefer the sound and feel of playing with a pick, but I still have an inferiority complex about it because I'm an idiot.
Still can't pick a first fuzz, though I'm leaning towards an EH Bass Big Muff because it seems the basic/middle of the road choice.
Tried out a Darkglass B7K Ultra and...well I have no idea how that thing works. Too many knobs and switches (and too many on the only 5 string the GC had on hand as well) to jump in blind.
Anyway, good times.

Telekinetic Yeti and Weedeater are coming my way fairly soon. I'm on the fence about going to see them. I have a thing...crowds...people...if I'm on stage, it's ok, but I can't handle being IN it. Anxiety, I guess.

I play with a pick, primarily due to arthritic mitts, but that's another story. I also wish I could be one of those flutter-fingered magicians, but even when I played fingerstyle without pain, I was more of a ham-handed player. Go with what make you feel best and do not feel bad about it. There have been maaaaaaaany great pick players.
I hear you on this. Give me a "Louder" knob, and I'm happy.

I do get the same way sometimes. Never been in a band, but I can walk into a room and give a speech/presentation no problem. But being stuffed into a crowd I can do maybe 40% of the time.

When I picked up my first bass in 2002ish I played pick because I dabbled in guitar until I realised the deep rumbly bits in the thrash I was listening to came from bass guitar. That, and I only knew a few bass players like Jason Newsted, Tom Araya, and Rex Brown so pick it was.
But then I went onto the internet looking for bass chat/forums/etc and it was a regular torrent of "real bass players don't use a pick!" It's still buried in my brain since I've always been very on/off with playing, and it's been mostly off to be honest.
So I've been making video and audio playlists with pick players specifically for motivation. Newsted, Bobby Vega, Misa, D.D Verni, Justin Chancellor, Piotr Zin, Duff Mckagen, Aaron Beam, Mike Dirnt....ok, more than I thought I'd remember. Anyway, slowly getting out of my own head!

, I've been getting in to filthy hippie music, so I recommend you check out a couple of guys to see another side of playing with a pick: Andy West of the Dixie Dregs, Dan Horne of Circles Around the Sun, Phil Lesh, Mike Gordon, and the guy from Weedpecker. All have their own thing going, and all sound great. Then, there are the obvious ones: McCartney, Squire, Wyman, Entwistle, John Paul Jones, from the classic rock genre. I haven't caught Weedeater live yet, but I've opened for T. Yeti and they are fantastic live. You can always stand in the back. They are plenty loud. Lol
I bounce between both, depends on how I feel and what I wanna play or sound like. Just jam a pick between the pickguard and body. I'd do that for gigs and would grab it for a song here or there or during a song and whatnot.
And for fuzz, how much ya thinking of spending?
Spelljammer is SO underrated. I love them to bits.
What bass you playin' and what fuzz tones you dig?
Question - is that you in the boot? And potential follow-up if it is - how hard is it to use a pedal board with a boot on? I spent a LOOOONG time on crutches and in a boot sophomore year of high school and my balance was terrible, not to mention I wasn't supposed to put sustained pressure on the boot. I feel like I'd injure myself using the boot as my base while using my good foot to press pedals, but also that the boot wouldn't be accurate enough to push a single pedal and I'd screw everything up. I'm probably overthinking this...
Side note - the reason I got into playing bass was because of the broken leg that required the boot. I needed a hobby that I could do sitting down (I was a rather active child). Bass became that hobby! 23 years later and it was the best thing that could have happened! I definitely didn't have effects or anything back when I had the boot - just a simple Ibanez P/J 4 string and a tiny combo amp. Still have the bass!
