Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

If anyone besides me loves Tech 21 stuff they are blowing out the Character Plus series for 50%. The Leeds sounds pretty great on bass.
Forgot to fill in the fill in guitarist bit, it was Brandon Ellis, formerly of The Black Dahlia Murder.
I've listened to this a few times now, good album.
Also recently found Faetooth, they just dropped a new album as well that I've been enjoying. Their first recording as a 3 piece.
Used to practice at the same facility as Black Dahlia. Saw them loading up the tour bus once or twice - never bothered them ofc. My twin bro knew Trevor a little in college, just as the band was getting together, because my bro wrote for a local music mag and Trevor wrote too and I think they were in a few classes together. I always forget just how big those guys have gotten!
Trying to find a song I heard about a year or two ago, but forgot the title and band name... maybe this will ring some bells for somebody here? Bassist was playing a fireglo Rick (I'm sure that narrows it down) and the guitar and drums were also in black and/or reddish-orange colors. The band were also wearing some combo of black and orange. The sound was very slow and fairly minimal but rather traditional - no growls or funeral doom keyboards or anything. About seven minutes long song. Video set on a non-tropical beach, from what I remember the basic plot was that a bunch of fans followed them out to the beach, they played surrounded by fans, and at the end everybody's laying down on the ground like they're dead. Yeah, that' a plot. Was fairly new at the time I heard it, but nothing super-popular, maybe a couple thousand yt views.
Sooo...anyone into vinyl?
I've been thinking about getting into it for a few reasons. I want to support bands more directly and that would be a way besides t shirts. Other thing is, I've been using Spotify a ton but I've noticed I don't pay much attention to who I'm actually listening to half the time. I went into a record shop the other day and absolutely blanked on what bands I like. This just never happened back before streaming(or not as much, anyway). So I want to get back into actually owning some music again.
So yeah, questions would be is there any places online you go to find records beyond a bands merch site?
Any recs for getting a player, speakers, etc? I don't need big and fancy, but don't want it to work/sound terrible, either.

While I’m likely in more in line with you concerning using a major streaming site when not playing my records or have my MP3 player nearby. However I have Apple Music and I use some of their search aggregators for similar artists and go seek out small record stores that will place orders for the records of the artists themselves aren’t selling direct.
As for record players, some of the recent Bluetooth-enabled players have gotten good enough sonically to catch close enough to analog connections. I use an Audio-Technica Bluetooth turntable with a soundbar speaker-and-sub setup and get more than acceptable sound quality for a living room space. That said, for audiophile quality, I have to upgrade the speakers.
At least where I am, the market is flooded with used HiFi goods. '80s-90s gear is kind of a sweet spot IMO. I endorse older NAD stuff because it sounds good while being clean no nonsense designs. Paradigm speakers are worth looking at. Marantz, Yamaha, Denon, even some Technics stuff will do the job without costing an arm/leg. Do not spend crazy money on cables, just don't.

how about u?heyy i dont play vynils much because my turntable is kinda busted but i do play a bunch of cds and cassettes. like dave here says, bandcamp is a good place but also the artists directly! go to shows, see their merchctables. i have a small collection and is all from local shows and gettin stuff thru bandcamp

The new Elder EP is amazing. Even though it's shoegaze/midwestern emo/Rush haha
Well, in wah news, I went with the Dunlop Mini Bass Wah. After fooling with it for a couple of days, I have to say I love it. The spring loaded pedal and no-switch auto off when the heel is back work great. The adjustable Q and volume control allow you to get a variety of wah sounds from subtle to extreme.
I've been feeding it with the glitchy/modulated Idiotbox Wormsign fuzz (latest in the collection, so it gets all the love these days). They sound great together overall, but my new favorite sound might be Wormsign into the Mini in its first couple of millimeters of travel. Though, it is kind of a pain to hold it there. I'll probably try jamming something under the heel of the pedal when I want that sound.
I'll probably shove some other fuzzes through it this week, but since it kind of tames the craziness of the Wormsign I can't imagine any of them sounding bad through it. Thanks to everyone for their input, and a special thanks to everyone who basically said "Why aren't you getting a Dunlop Bass Wah?"
I'm still probably going to cover it with a bunch of black Gorilla Tape or stickers this weekend. I have other white pedals, but somehow this one just offends me with its gargantuan-ish whiteness.
