I'm familiar with the Behringer clone, my old guitar player had one. I've thought about buying one and re-housing it, but I hear they're a pain to work with.
Why I am thinking the Ron FN Swanson Super Fuzz for $106 shipped brand new and super cool looking is a good deal and the way to fly to get that sound.

Proper German pronunciation would be like "ringer" - there is no soft G sound in the German language.
Most people in the states pronounce with the soft G though.
Yeah, Behringer SF300 is their FZ-2 clone. I pronounce it like Tom Behringer, so I guess improperly. Barnes is reality!
You know who is severely underrated as a bassist? Felix Pappalardi, that's who (I'm on a huge Mountain kick at the moment).
Terrible movie. Tom Berenger's best role ever was Sergeant Barnes.
