Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So question for you carnivores out there....

One of my friends asked me for a burger recipe. My response was, "80/20 grilled with salt and pepper?" They were under the assumption that you add bread crumbs and egg to a burger...

I was at a loss. That is meat loaf. Anyone else hear of that?
I went to public school and ate cafeteria food, does that count?
You really like 80/20?
We generally get the super lean stuff and mix with pork sausage.

I agree, that's meatloaf.

I add super-fine chopped onion and garlic, salt and pepper. But plain old salt and pepper is good too. Fattier beef makes for juicier, tastier burgers.

Depends on where you are from but yes often people do that to bind the burger and make it "cake" together.

I put nothing in my burgers. No shaging ********. Season with salt and pepper (get the theme)

Movie I wish I could unsee: "The Holy Mountain" (1973). "El Topo", by the same director, is also on the list. If you want to be horrified and confused and see some really backwards sh^t, those movies.

I recommend watching with the director's commentary on, otherwise you won't follow it at all.

See I like a burger medium. So I dont add ground pork. The super lean stuff here is stupid expensive, and then I need to add something like chopped bacon for some fat content. 80/20 is easy/cheap/tasty. And, then this....

If I want meat, then its meat. If I want loaf, which I do some times, then I'll make meat loaf.

Gathering information needed to decide if I farm out a motor rebuild on my Subaru or do it myself. Head gasket(s) are leaking allowing exhaust gas into the coolant.
Evaluation will be a balance of two precious commodities. Time and Money.

Not sure why everyone fusses about replacing headgaskets... then again I drive a 4-banger Volkswagen and everything is for the most part easy to get to :bored:

Good luck to ya!

askrere that guy sounds not insane, so you better have a good explanation! haha

I got mad...

But his ad said he guys I'm selling this for $380 and live in Killeen. But I can meet in Austin or Waco because I won't ship it as it's money at stake..

So I told him hey I live in denton I'll do your Waco drive sure. And then he asks where we should meet. Waco is a straight shot south for me so I said I don't really care, but I'd prefer to use a music store because they've always let me test stuff. He said Waco had a guitar center that was that. Then I said hey, I have $340 cash on my person so I can't come like today but by tomorrow or something I'll be ready. He says wait til this Wednesday, and oh I'll just take $340 since you're making it easy.

Then I text him Saturday a picture of all the cash and say hey I'm all ready for Wednesday to prove I'm not gonna flake.

And then he says hey I'm gonna drop the deal, and as shown, blamed the trip to Waco and the tedium id caused by saying I'd like to test it out. He said guitar center wouldn't allow that (they specifically let you take your gear their so I never knew that to be true, and if they made a fit I'd of bought a pack of strings and quieted then down). His last part of the text said he realized he could make his asking price if he offered shipping as he had previously avoided shipping.

So I told him I'd drive to him and pay the $380 and to call me so we could talk about it. He didn't respond so I'll admit I got pretty tweaked as every condition this guy set I would match and he wouldn't stick to it then ignored me.

I'm sorry if a freaked you out, but on my side you had the weirdest excuses (to me) and seemed hell bent on not wanting the buyer to play it before they bought it.

I don't get why you didn't just say "hey the drive to Waco I offered is actually impossible for me at this time, and I really rather get the $380, is it ok if we meet at x?". I didn't make up Waco, and even said I have family in Austin your other proposed meeting spot so I could meet you virtually anywhere on 35 and make it work.

So again sorry, but why make such a specific ad and lower the price for me complying if you didn't agree with what you said in the first place?

I had to write a 20 page essay on el topo. I had to view that movie wayyy too many times.

eggs and bread crumbs makes stay together better, but another good trick is to also add some powdered onion soup and mix it with the beef. delicious.

You add eggs if the fat content isn't high enough (97% anyone?). And bread crumbs is just being cheap, stretching your dollar. I've heard all the tricks for good burgers. For me, garlic salt, maybe some Lea and Perrins Worcestershire. I've also been known to add bacon to ground beef along with different cheeses. Blue cheese burgers are awesome.

Steak is salt and pepper. Medium rare. Hold the A-1. My wife drowns steak in that poopie.

French fries are the bomb with the regional chain's "fry sauce". Which as far as I can tell, is ketchup, mayo, and relish. The chain is called Freddy's. Very good steak burgers.
