Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Thanks for being good enablers guys :)
I'm looking forward to playing it.

I have an 80s Japanese dimarzio loaded P. I need to sell it. Westone/Electra Phoenix. Cool bass. Body is like a P mixed with an SG. 1.5" nut. A little neck heavy. But I don't have any nice straps. Sounds awesome.

I still want a Stingray. I'd like to get a 5 string in the rotation at some point.

Your gonna want to keep that pick up lol

Better then most I would say but not all :)

Also not all cream pickups ate dimarzio. Schaller made a clone back then too. So did ibanez.

Yeah forsure, I have some a set of clones I got on Craigslist for 40 bucks, sounds pretty much identical to my real ones in my Hondo, and I suppose I can't say they are king p yet because I still really want to try some Fralins or Aguilar hot p's

A local shop had a really clean 2000S stack a few months ago. I wasn't shopping for a new amp, but I was drawn to it. I checked the price tag: $2100!! I scoffed loudly and involuntarily.

The tech came over and said that he had to replace the OT, that's why they were charging so much. He also mentioned that they bought the set for next to nothing (because of that blown transformer). I mentioned that I thought it was still a bit high, but wished them good luck selling the thing.

Went back a month later and it was gone. Asked the sales guy about it and he said that someone came in and paid full price without even trying to haggle.

So yeah, people are willing to pay out the nose for those amps.

I'm not.

EDIT: MPDD, I got my Sentura II and a Crate cab loaded with Celestion Greenbacks for $400 around the same time that you got your 2000S.

poopie, $2100 with a replaced OT is insanity. I wouldn't pay for that head at all, not having the original transformer ruins it for me. Who ever bought that was a fool.

Those 62 RI pickups suck

Idk, I have them in my AVRI 62 P and they're real damn good at least for what I'm doing. But they don't sound anything like Dimarzio's

Whatever happened to all that Darkstar craze. I guess he stopped making them. Anybody ever get to try one?
They look cool as hell.

I have an offshoot of the dark stars in my Jazz bass from Daguet guitars in France. I really like them, especially for recording clean bass. They're very wide spectrum pickups, definitely not for everyone. And they're hot, waaaaaay louder than my P's pickup. The dagstar takes up far less space though.
