Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I got my Carvin and my iMac sold at last. Made back most of the money I had to spend on dental work. I was thinking about sending my pine P bass body off to get professionally refinished now, since it's been sitting out in my shop forever and I don't have any free time to practice getting better at painting with an HVLP spray gun. I've got all the parts sitting, waiting to finish the build. Part of me thinks I should just build a new one from scratch, much quicker and better than the pine body, and have that professionally painted.

I never stopped GASing for one. I GAS for many things. I just don't even have the money to fix the stuff I have.
Those years, it's probably a high-gain, rather than a toaster. I'm intending to eventually get a toaster pickup for my Peavey.
Spalted is cool with me if it's just a little. Same goes for lots of figuring. It depends on context.Speaking of tacky looking basses, I just can't get into spalted maple at all. Yuck. Same goes for about 75% of that zebrawood stuff.

This is true. My Rickenbacker has a bit of interesting grain, but just a little.
Overly quilted ones are the type I feel are the most gaudy. Especially with bright gold hardware. Really not my thing.

I was at work so I liked it then responded on a bathroom break.
It's a 2007, that year they did like a guitar for every month or something. It doesn't get much play time as I've never quite adjusted to the shape of the neck and have my Fenders, but it sounds great and looks boss, so I keep it around for recording.
sunn 2000s - mine had an absurdly deep voicing and did not really break up harshly when overdriven, very heavy due to the huge transformer, loud even with a 115
d180 - way more mids and a very focused sound whether full grind overdriven or not, capable of bright cutting tone, weighs half what the sunn head weighed, can get warm and vintage sounding at more controlled volumes, loud with a 215, seemed to be too much amp for a 115

Yeah, I've noticed that D.M.N. often boosts his treble a lot on his 2000S... I can't imagine doing that on my D-180.
Yeah, I always run mine with treble on 10 and bass on about 2, contour adjusted depending on the bass and situation. But I also go for a pretty mid and treblely tone.
What setting you guys use with your Ultimate Drives?
Bronco new roto steel 66's > UD> mine into the mb500 with flat gain, treble and bass, maxed hi and low mids and the master nearly turned off into the bassic it's quite loud.
Those roto steel 66's are awesome they give me most of the tone I associate with full scale to the short scale bronco.
Time to dump that mb500 wanna try something else.

That guy does some nice work I have a P bass pickup from that guy that sounds amazing and my old bass teacher had 2 P90s from that guy that were also great. I'm sure his darkstar pup is great too.
