So the guy switched the ad content a few minutes ago. Shows a GK now.

I bought the Sunn Spectrum 2 from him this morning.

S' slow in here. What's the best passive 4 string bass "soapbar" pickup for heavy music? xD

Looking at Seymour Duncan's NYC bass humbuckers.

Any other suggestions/recommendations? I know most here tend to use P pickups and such, but I don't own nary a bass with such a route!

I haven't got much to say, so I'll just mention that I've been listened to Usnea. I don't care for the black metal parts too much, but it's mostly slow and dirgey stuff and I'm digging that a lot.

That's an early 70s, not late 70s...and that middle shelf port 215 sounds great with EVMs.

Also, highdea...408 design but with 18s. The middle 218s are peavey lo riders, and the forward facing are my 70s PA 18s. Crossover for the two.

I was listening to Sonic Youth earlier. Can't remember what song right now (I listened to 3 albums). But it had a part that could be close to black metal.

I'm gonna try it out, and if it doesn't work out I'll release it back into the wild. Curious how it will sound through the 8x10, and if me using with bass it in the band context is gonna overheat it or not.

I think the cab is a 15 with dual horns. Will check after work - it's still in the back of the car.

I haven't heard any good things about the SD Ric replacement pickups.

i've been listening to a couple of demos and it seems to thicken up the low end quite a bit. i'm attempting to divorce the bass and the treble from each other on my ric-o-sound setup so i feel like it would work out well.

i had a chat with Alex @ Avedissian as well and he says, dimensions willing, that he would be able to re-wind it and replace the magnets to soup it up a little.

If you own a 4001 don't hack up the old pickup. Take it out and save it and get your hands in a newer ric style pickup. The have more output and low end.

I do frequently listen to Unsane also. You're right though, they don't have any black metal parts. It definitely ads to my enjoyment of them lol.

More output from two 218's. Different drivers in the same air space can give you bad juju in your impedance curve.
