My original Samick is currently strung this way but I don't put anything but nearly dead batteries in it so.... Atypical usage.
EMG PJ active picks, "9" volt powered but usually don't use batteries until they have dropped significant output. No EQ.
Sounds better than new batteries, compressed and mellow, thumpyish.
Damn I hate those pickups.

Cool, yeah I think I might give it a try. I think my current set of power slinkys just took a dramatic turn for the worse. I'm just getting weird overtones and weak fundamentals - especially on the B string. Setup is fine so I tried changing batteries, different EQ settings, different cables, settings on my dirt pedals, playing through a different amp, nothing helps, which makes me think the strings went weird for some reason.
Maybe I'll give it a shot.
I did it, on a Pedulla Rapture, sounded great.
Edit: extra benefit of flats lasting until the end of time.

That was my experience with Power Slinkies. Great tone new, good tone broken in. Terrible tone worn out. Just horrid.
I got a double CD of his from the library once upon a time, his cover of "Iron Ma" is fu**ing EPIC.
Haha, Bill's "metal" voice over Zack Wylde guitars is way over the top. Then again his super power is to take cheese to the limits and come off kicking ass.

The Power Slinkies sound fuqing amazing new, and very decent broken in, and they last a pretty decent time. Once they start to go, they go quick and they suck.
The chrome flats on my Ray sound fantastic. Once I sell that bass, I hope that who ever gets it never wants/needs to replace them.

Univox hi flyer is pretty cool, I really dig the pickup placement. I'll need to directly compare it a lot with my other basses and see what's right. It would be an awesome fast playing stereo option with more ric like placement.
It's pickups are pretty hot, and I like the fact it came setup and has chromes, but I'm curious how rounds would fare on it.
I had to use the limiter on the mb500 which might sell today as a guy emailed last night saying he had cash and lived right down the street.

So I was cruising around my internet history. Good thing I hardly ever delete that stuff.
I found the searches I did on the serial number. Just to make sure I didn't goof. I am now 100% positive I got the wrong bass. I was only 99% sure earlier.

OCD or OCD Clones. A lot of folks dig the Joyo Ultimate Drive, I have EHX version - the OD Glove, which is awesome.
