I need a better 8x10. Mine is an old 80's-ish hodgepodge of speakers. I'm tired of babying it.

What kind of shape is your 810 in, and what model is it? You might be able to find a $300 810e with cosmetic damage. If your cab is an ampeg, you could just swap the drivers.

It is an Ampeg. It's on older model before they put the towel bars on it. I have some newer speakers but there are some no name speakers in there and something is constantly farting out.

I'm running a Hartke HA5500 which is 500W. I had to stop using my Landmark 300 because I was afraid my cab would explode. Its only 300W but it has huuuuuuuuge low end.

Ampeg 810e cabs are pretty cheap and plentiful on the used market. May require a bit of patience and staking out CL. Plus, you absolutely have to carefully check them over, because the amount of cabs with blown speakers on the used market (knowingly or unknowingly, by the seller) is plentiful as well. I have a friend who only recently was convinced that they were loud or sounded good, because he had unknowingly never played one that didn't have at least one blown speaker in it. The one sitting in his practice space forever was blown and he never knew, he just thought 810's were quiet and farty sounding.

I just don't want to end up with a turd. This is my 3rd or 4th one. I may seak out other cheap-ish big cabs. Something that costs what I could hope to get from my 8x10.

Yup short scale. I'm thinking I'm gonna need like 120 to tune to C standard.

Yes dogs can join you at two bars in town. And you can smoke in any of them (I don't smoke personally though).

My friend bussed them drunk people all away lol and told the ladies they could not come back with us. They were trashed beyond what was good for anyone. Then we had another round and called it good.

You could always look for a good solid Mesa 215 cab. Also very plentiful and much less likely to be a lemon, as there's only two speakers to fail.

Peavey 215D. Load it with 1505-8DT BW's.

If you can find one that's stock for a good price, totally. These days though people are selling them for really inflated prices without the stock drivers. Where as the EV design based Mesa 215 cabs in the road cases and similar are way more plentiful and less cool at the moment, so the prices tend to be a bit more reasonable for what you're getting. Exceptions in any case, obviously, but just a general observation.

THIS is a good deal. I've seen someone selling the same cab locally, without a grill and non original speakers for $500.

If the landmark is so plentiful on the lows it may be the perfect marriage. Laz' link is a smoking score. The cab is built like a tank and a perfect platform to replace the speakers when you sell your 810. That is if you don't like the speakers. The guy I knew that owned one used it with the stock speakers for a PA sub. It slayed!

The bass player in my old stoner rock band in ABQ (I was the drummer) had one of those cabs. he used with his Sunn Enforcer, which was a guitar head but with that cab it was massive-sounding.
Found a photo of an Enforcer.

Wish I was still in contact with that guy so I could track him down and convince him to sell me that head.

Avatar bought out a bunch of speakers when GB went under. They have 8ohm Eminence 10" for $28 each. http://www.avatarspeakers.com/

Well, when they were bought out, but yes, BG has been out of production for several months, if not a year at this point.
