Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So, I finally had some time to sit down and watch that Ufomammut DVD. Pretty awesome, bit of gear porn too.

Nothing going on on the band and gear front. Had a SUNNO))) style practice with guitarist (only me and him and a lot of loud riffing), probably make a song out of it.
Waiting for a chinese RAT copy, but I think it's being delivered here with a yak caravan, it's almost 4 weeks since it's been shipped.
On the other hand, yak caravan going through Asian wastelands to deliver my dirt pedal? That's pretty doom :D

I finally finished mixing the album I started recording in July, for a local band. Just waiting for their approval on the final mix, then it's off to get mastered. Hopefully it will lead to some more work by referral. Money is crazy tight since my wife stopped working. Thank goodness I saved up and funded a gear binge before the baby was born.

My guitar player cut his fingers on his fret hand. Hope he heals by next week...

Reminds me of the time one of my dumbass friends cut himself on the hand. He was living in different city about 40 minutes away, I had driven down there for a weekend of drinking/hanging out. I had just opened my 4th beer when he pushed the button on the switchblade he was playing with (the kind where the blade just pops straight up from inside the handle, not the hinged/stiletto kind), the blade popped up and seriously sliced the poopie out of his hand. Duct tape and many paper towels - I drove his ass to the emergency room and we sat there for the rest of the night. He ended up getting many stitches. No bigger buzzkill than sitting in a small city emergency room on a friday night. Man, I was pissed.

I had a similar experience with a friend who decided to cut some electrical tape with a big knife straight toward his hand. I warned him not to do it (like I warn my wife, every time she cuts a bagel), but he shrugged it off. He sliced straight through the webbing between his thumb and forefinger, did a little quick "oh sh*t" face and ran to the bathroom to get something to staunch the bleeding. Then he passed out into the bathtub and had to be taken to the emergency room.

Never heard of this guy. But it sucks if your ripped off. Lots of gear out there... Keep an eye out for him.

wow that SUCKS. I love godheadsilo, I always wondered what happened to them. I have their Scientific Supercake LP, it has some of the most bowel-distending bass tones and best song titles ever. They were doing the bass-drums duo thing way before OM, Evil Beaver, Lightning Bolt, Big Business, DFA 1979, Royal Blood, Hex Volt, and Galactic Hatchet made it cool. I have a vague memory of seeing them at Gabe's in Iowa City in the mid-90's, maybe opening for the Melvins, maybe my brain just made it up.

Damn it sounds like he was one of those guys who never EVER sold a piece of gear. And his daughter's TOYS?? Hopefully that's just way too much way-too-unique gear to try to fence unnoticed.

nothing that exciting yesterday, but i thought my dog got messed up pretty bad, because she was limping and seemed kind of disoriented, the pit broke her dew claw again and it was hanging there by a nerve or a blood vessel guess, i tried to help, which didn't really work, she just bit it off spit it on the floor and went off to sleep, i'm sure if i took her to the vet they would give me the whole 400 dollar treatment and return visit checkup, they are always telling me the dogs are going to die from some basic stuff just to get some more $
or they try to get you to pay major cash for treatment on animal that's basically DOA, jerks

White fender mustang bass with bass synth insides and extra guitar strings (smoke and smoke)
Black fender mustang/bronco bass with tremolo (godheadSilo)

These stolen items sound very interesting.

Though there's a lot of difference in a used bronco and a CIJ or vintage mustang, so he's kinda vague for being the owner. Unless some of the PA or that one of synth stuff is really valuable, or a broken sunn, idk how that stuffs over $20,000. Maybe what he originally paid?
