Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

It's pretty OK, a bit too atmospheric for me, but I put it on while working and didn't turn it off, so it's good im my book
The Pickle Pie B is one of the pedals I can't recommend highly enough to other bassists. Kinda pricey new, but they pop up used in the classifieds and ebay a lot for less. It's not the end all be all of bass fuzzes, but it nails the Russian Muff sound and is one of the most useable and flexible fuzz pedals for bass I've ever played. The tone knob and the gain knob are useable all the way around the dial and the clean blend is great. I have hardly ever needed to use the clean blend, but it does provide a lot of tonal options. As I've pointed out on a lot of forum posts before, if you turn the gain down and clean blend way up, it even makes a decent distortion/overdrive. I've demoed it a lot on my Soundcloud page, but I'm usually going for my favorite "sweet spot" tone when I do, it's a lot more versatile than I've personally showcased. No matter how many great fuzzes I get, I still hold onto it because it's so to have in the tone arsenal.
Listening to it now, pretty good, good background music while working like Speedor said.

I spent too long trying to make a Pedal Train Nano work for me.
Even though I only ever use 1 or 2 pedals, it's still to small.
I actually hate the idea of pedal boards (more poopie to carry) but I rely more and more on pedals for my tone.
And now that I'm getting into parallel processing I'm going to need the room for 2 separate chains.
So...what are my options in a non-velcro pedal board? I wan't something big enough for several pedals but not too big looking when I'm only using 2 or 3.
I don't want velcro simply because I'm doing some experimenting and will be moving stuff on and off the board for a while.
Is there something with a non-skid surface I could use?
Can I just use a small piece of plywood and put something on the face? Rat Fur carpet maybe?

I am thinking of buying one of these holeyboard or making something similar to use zip ties instead of Velcro and easier to swap pedals around. I will probably never gig but still want to organize my pedals better than just sitting on the floor in a big line.

Wood and EVA foam. You can find sheets of it hobby/craft stores and it's what yoga mats are made from. Just hot glue or spray glue some on to a piece of plywood scrape or whatever else you can make something the right size you want with. It should give some decent grip, without making the pedals stick on. Just an idea, I haven't tried it myself, I just use velcro. Even though I change pedals A LOT.
Not having much luck with the class D amps. I killed my ampeg 7 pro twice before selling it and I just killed my Orange TB1000 at last practice. Unlike Ampeg, Orange customer service rules though! I bought it almost 1.5yrs ago all I have to do is ship it to them and they'll fix it for free. Dunno if its bad power at the practice space, I just doom it too hard, or just bad luck but it might be time I go full tube. Perhaps I need to order up a Dunwich.
We had a drummerless practice a last week so guitar player and I got super squinty and F'd around for an intro to a new tune. Was fun.

Orange service rocks. Only had to pay shipping to them and they fixed the amp and upgraded my working tubes to jj's and shipped it back for free. And I was the second owner and it was over two years old.
I'd investigate that if I were you. Seems too coincidental.

Sounds like it could be a power issue. If you were pushing the amps too hard, I would imagine that they'd go into protect mode before they'd die altogether. So if you weren't repeatedly pushing them to the point of thermal shutdown then it's probably something else giving you trouble.

Yeah I thought maybe I was just pushin it too hard cuz...that's just how I roll and never had a prob before.
Yeah, there has been issues with other peoples amps in the past in our practice space but since the building is shared with a few business and stuff, who knows what power demands are being put on the poopy electrical system in that old building. Not sure what can be done about it, building owner doesn't give a poopie and we are seriously lucky to even have this space. There is NOWHERE around here to practice. Maybe I'll invest in a power conditioner? Hopefully will be buying a house in out in the country in the near future.
I've sent amps into protect mode by getting a little too crazy with a dirt pedal, if that hasn't happened then I don't think you're pushing them too hard (though I've never used either of those amps, so maybe they're different). But most if not all modern amps are designed to shut themselves down if you're abusing them.
