Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Well moaning means you're not dead (unless you're reanimated) so that's a good sign.

Is your business in a neighborhood, or do people just get violent around your warehouse district.

Earlier this year before I moved a guy got shot to death behind my building and they had a FBI investigation and I missed it all.

It's a commercial/industrial area, though I think there's some apartments on the other side of one of the streets. It's just a really bad area, it's filled with shanty towns, lots of homeless, drug deals on the street constantly, lots of violence and loud altercations on a regular basis. This is the firs time I've seen a shooting. Though I've heard some happening from time to time on nearby streets and we've had bullet holes in our building a couple times this year. It's been getting progressively worse over time, because the city is directing parolees down here and not cracking down urban camping and daily street dealing that much (unless there's a gang task force operation going on, because federal funds), because the nearest area across the railroad tracks is the ritzy "olde town" district with the John Steinbeck museum.

if you guys were getting a road case for your bass made, what features would you get built in?

i'm getting one custom molded to the rick, space for a PT Nano, and compartments for cables and tools. similar to this, looking for some extra ideas!

If I buy that weedeater record what shipping format should I go for so I don't receive a crumpled folder full of vinyl shards?

I've purchased several orders from SoM and always picked the cheap USPS media mail option and never had a single issue.

I wouldn't mind having a case with room for my loaded PT Mini, spot for my wide strap and a little pocket area for a back of picks or something. I've just got a generic Gator hardshell case and a couple factory cases for some instruments, nothing heavy duty or custom.

I think I've been to that museum.

It's weird stuff like that takes place so readily in some places. Police just giving up and leaving areas to criminals. Though I guess they have to put parolees somewhere if they aren't gonna keep them in jail, and it's better to put them in a one area away from the major populace.

Like in Miami the density of schools and daycares means it's nearly impossible for sex offenders to live within the city, so they all live in one area.

Nah, you are better off than me, my Jazzguarbird is all ready to go, just needs to be bolted together and soldered up. Probably get that all done over the long Christmas break but until then no bass for me. Lots of guitar playing lately.
That's cool tho, you build your own bass. I can't don't have VIP access to the shop I used to work at so I can't do fun things anymore.

If I really wanted to I could buy another bass, but money winds up going other places....anyone else have that problem?

Joe doesn't build them from the ground up, more like a partscaster build. He had a tele bass he rigged up too before this. There's a couple guys he knows who will do wood and paint work for us S/D people for a discount I think.

Yep just partcasters. I found a new guy who is going to do an unfinished triple p bass body for me out of grainy ash for my next build. I should have that done in two years or so LOL.

Retirement bass lol

They gonna be Reversed or normal?

Damn shot twice in the face that is up close and personal shooting going on. Best to pay the pusher man when you are a user man I suppose.

User might have decided to get himself a big bag of crack for Christmas.

My AB1 has dual split coils. Run them in series with each other and it is a monster. Combustion will have three split coils.
That's pretty slick. I like a diverse amount of tonal options in my bass, although the double humbucker config I have set up in my EGC is definitely my personal favorite config. I can single coil tap them as well, although I rarely do that.

Recorded overdubs and noise parts today for Galactic Hatchet. Used my friends VTM 60 to keep it truly KVLT. Sounds dense as fvck. Super super happy with the tone Ive gotten.

We did lay down my first vocal takes ever, but we'll be redoing those, I know I can do way better. May or may not upload the track with shvtty vocals.
