Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I would love that!

If it's ever logistically/financially reasonable, let's do it.

I know it's not nearly as fun, but you can totally dive into the single artist role....completely write and record your own album then circulate it. See if it leads to you members that don't have to try to mess up what you've got going since it's already completed.

Yeah, at this point I want to do it just because then I have no excuse for not getting anything done but myself. If it fails, I can look at what I did right and wrong and try again. If it comes out good, it might attract a better class of bandmates.

So it looks like my oath to not ever let a bassist without his own gear use my rig is gonna have to be broken this weekend. The friend who got us on the for the karma to burn gig just had his amp die 2 days before the show and I'm gonna have to let him use my fender rig. Nervous.

Well I broke down, my coffee fast is over. A coworker brought donuts in and a donut without coffee is a crime against humanity.

Never had coffee and donuts. I'm a milk man (child).

Damn it Max, I want to record your band/Peavey stockpiling collective.

I assume he knows what he's doing. Besides, he'll probably be drinking and sitting on the beach all day anyways :D

Does anyone know what they are doing in the jaws of a great white? They jump there.

Recorded overdubs and noise parts today for Galactic Hatchet. Used my friends VTM 60 to keep it truly KVLT. Sounds dense as fvck. Super super happy with the tone Ive gotten.

We did lay down my first vocal takes ever, but we'll be redoing those, I know I can do way better. May or may not upload the track with shvtty vocals.

are you using that box as a sub kick for recording? we did that for recording the kick on our Christmas song here:

when you have that much bass in your guitar and bass tones you need something extra for the kick!

That sounds like an awesome bass. Where did you get the parts again?
There are two guitar/body body builders I found. Both are on ebay, but you contact them and they will do custom stuff for you. I haven't used the new guy that will build the triple P for me but I will when I am ready to order it as I already talked it over with him. I buy fender shaped bodies so I can use Fender necks and parts, All Parts, Mighty Mite, etc. I like to get unfinished bodies and necks if I can so I can gun oil finish them and so I can build without pickguards. Here is a pick of the 51 and the Jazzguarbird that will have Gibson Thunderbird pups in it(this one I used black artist oil to stain it before the tru oil, also the pic is just the stain before I put oil on it, so dull looking). Oh this Jazzguarbird body is a cheapy I got off of Guitar Fetish, then had TBer JMac(Whiskerface Designs do the pickup routes for me)
Their ebay stores are:
wendiramone.501 this is guy who made my 51 P with the additional neck mudbucker that I sold.
hilimireguitars also on facebook and have a website. He makes necks to but the frets aren't leveled. This is the guy I will order the triple p body from.

Those are pretty! When I have money again I'll go deeper into getting a bass from someone you just listed. I have a hankering for a double P bass.

Did you get a Fender or Squier?

Does this answer your question?

Yup ghetto sub kick, aka old stereo speaker wired up to computer using tech magic that i dont understand.

Theres so much subness in my tone from the basic tracks that even that subkick had trouble making the kick audible for the drums tracks. We flangeled for a while get the kick right in the mix. Whoops sorry im not sorry.

Don't worry, the worst thing that could happen is it catches on fire and he throws it out the window driving down the highway and you never see it again.

I have nightmares of this exact thing happening. My band is playing a tribute to classic metal show in January for the benefit of the kids enrolled in the "School of Rock"(a local(I think) lesson studio geared towards rock music). We had discussed providing backline for the gig and had agreed to do so. Then we woke up and realized that 1. I don't want some kid using my 4 pro(classic cab killer) to blow my cabs and 2. My guitarist certainly doesn't want his two vintage Marshalls being used by whomever.

Backline no mas.

i lend gear as much as i can to friends, but (almost) never to randoms. last time i did my 200 went kaput from 6 hours of droning doom bands and a smart sound guy putting a DI between head and cab with only one speaker cable.
