Shield everything. In some environments a small gap is like nothing is shielded.
The Faraday Cage must be complete!

I saw guys use this for their guitars, way cheap and 15 feet, with all that extra I may make a helmet so Bigfoot will stop communicating with me. How about the control plate, do I need to slap any on that?

That's been recommended allot on TB but haven't used it myself. The control plate shouldn't need it but you do need to make sure your copper foil wraps up over your route to at least one screw hole for the control plate.

Thanks! It's kind of blowing my mind that I didn't get noise other than a slight bit of 60 cycle when soloing the single coil pup on the 51 P build and I didn't use a lick of shielding.

Some pickups are worse than others, just depends on how they're wound, potted, etc. Also depends on what kind of noise you are hearing. The 60 cycle hum can be eliminated with a humbucker, but humbucking won't do much if anything for RFI, which is what shielding is for.
Also I wonder if that open route on top of your Jazzguarbird has anything to do with it?

Yeah I am wondering about that too, kind of worried I do all the shielding and it won't matter with that gap. That is a good half inch or so. I bought a regular Jazz control cover and that is even shorter than the damn telecaster one. I may have a pickguard built, I got no clever way to cover it myself with my limited tools and I doubt I can make it look nice either with my lack of skills. Yeah it's not 60 cycle hum. Even a bit of crackle in the sound not like if I twist the cable on the input jack but still maybe I need to swap the input jack too. FN frustrating to say the least.

Bad part is the drummer we got to replace the old one owned a studio. We just got to the point where we were trying to force songs and they were not coming naturally. Plus the founding guitarist wanted to dump all the old material and write new. Putting the task of writing all the new material on my shoulders. It was a weight I couldnt bear. I actually put the last nail in the coffin and said "it's dead". Lots of people wanted to see it happen but i value the friend ship over trying to force anything or replacing him. People always ask me about machete and the answer now is "its over" :(. Least I played a few cool shows and have some live recordings and videos.

That's rough man. When you have a killer band and stuff just stops working or people get tired of each other or whatever drama.

My drummer told me that this is the best band he's ever been in. I agreed, same for me. It would be a hard void to fill with any other group of dudes. Our guitar player has been keeping us floating. When poopie went bad, he's stepped up every single time. He bought the van, he got two more bands and a bigger room, he is the one kicking in the most for the vinyl, etc. plus he's an all around great guy. He would be irreplaceable at this point.
