Well I saw Fu Manchu last night,in a cold windy alley in melbourne with 799 other people,as part of an all day festival.The organiser introducing Fu Manchu said that the meaning of life is to hear Scott Hill's guitar sound.And he was too right.Black Cobra didn't come through to well,which is a shame.
Unexpected highlight,a two piece called King Of The North-heavy stuff

In other news, wiring is complete. Just tolex (blue portaflex style and basket weave for the front panel) and some final touches left. It should be done by the weekend.

I reckon a band like Fu Manchu would have their own sound engineer.Seen them a few times? Jealous
the last time they came down under,I was 4 years old.It's been a while.
You're going to have to fill me in on that amp,I haven't been able to catch up on the previous pages.

Damn! New Black Sabbath date 2 days after I finish the exams... And no other place than Birmingham! And I thought I would save some money this month :(

Just realised that the venue they will play at fits just a few thousand people... It's gonna be a massacre just to find tickets. Why the hell they didn't book a stadium is beyond me.

I have used a stereo guitar rig quite alot,and I must,stereo does sound pretty fantastic.Delays especially.If you are into using dirt pedals,having a different sound on each side sounds amazing,i.e a fuzz on the left then a straight up distortion on the right can REALLY make the instrument sound much better.If you set them to sound quite different to each other,you can get alot of clarity happening.
I have been strongly considering getting together a ric-o-sound setup,but rather than carting around a second amp,using a sansamp instead.The only problem is once you start getting into all this stereo business,pedalmania can take over very quickly

The amp is loosely based on the B15/SB12 using 6SL7 preamp tubes and a 5U4GB rectifier (this can be swapped for 5AR4 or a solid state rectifier depending on the tone you want). The EQ however is a Fender style 5 band rotary graphic EQ. Power section is 4x7591 tubes (can also use 6L6 if desired) for 50-60 watts but the amp will also have the option of runnig at half power. It will also have a Variable Voltage Regulator to further fine tune the amount of power tube distorion when in half power mode. It will have a normal and a bright input and capable of 4 or 8 ohm loads.

I have tons of pedals already but after the last show I've thought of scalding down my board a little to give this idea a shot. Having two amps doesn't really bother me and if I was lazy I could take just one modern 810 and run the cab stereo. But here is my thoughts in a thread a started in the effects forum.

"I'm thinking of playing with my Ric-O-Sound and seeing what some set ups might be for some one splitting their signal BEFORE the pedal boards and amps. And maybe some Do's and Don'ts in this situation. My idea is to run my V4B with the treble pickup into a flat back 810 and my bass pickup into a SVT and slm era 810. I may just skip the Ric-O-Sound and split AFTER the board but I would like to play with the other way first. If I split after the board amps and uses would remain the same."
