Strangest celebrity encounter you've had?

seeing this thread is over 3 years old I might have already posted this....but I'll post it again, back in the early 90's my girlfreind at the time was really into Vandenburg. She told me that Rudy Sarzo and Adrian Vandenburg were doing a autograph siging at a record store but she had to work and asked if I could get there autographs for her. We had just started dating and I would do anything for lil sumthn' sumthn'. I get there and theres a line outside not too long but worth the wait finally get inside and theres people standing around and cameras flashing like I'm about to meet Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. I walk up to the tabel and hand Adrian something to sign, my girlfriends name was Andrea. He must of not heard me because I said you can make it out to Andrea. He looks up at me with this "dont you know who I am?" look on his face and says It's Adrian not Andrea. Thought it was funny, another thing I noticed him an Rudy had really big heads. on these skinny muscular bodies, mabey it was all the hair.

Also, one more. When Peyton Manning was a rookie, I ran into him at an Einstien Bagels. My mom is a huge fan, so I went up and asked if he would sign an autograph. He obliged. He asked the name, and I gave my mothers name. He signed it, and looked at me waiting for my name, I told him thank you, nice meeting you, and to have a great day. He had a strange look on his face.

Not very wierd, but one for the record books. My then-girlfriend and I went to see Joan Jett at the York County Fair last September. Great show, and afterwards we were behind the stage with the rest of the stalkers to try and meet her. I should mention that my friend is a HUGE Joan Jett fan, I don't go a week of hanging out with her without hearing the name. So inevitably we got to meet her, she rolled up in a van and took pictures with everyone. Pegged me for being military. Sweet old lady :)

When I re-up'd in Iraq I had the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders in my Blackhawk and they held the flag for me and my CO. I hope they were the B-string cheerleaders.

When I was living in Hawaii I had Dog the Bounty Hunter roll through a parking lot I happened to be in at the time. Interesting fact, I used to go to the same church he did there.

Met Terry O'Quinn (of Lost) at the Turtle Bay Golf Course, cool dude. Saw him a few years later at Shark's Cove on the North Shore, didn't realize what that feeling of Deja Vu was until about a minute after we passed. I assume he was walking home, he has a house out there.

That's all I can think of now.

Peace,
Greg

Challenge Accepted.

This didnt happen to me, this happened to my dad. Its a true story.

My dad is an avid fishermen, well it was mid summer up here in Southern Ontario, my dad was with a friend fishing a lake up by Orillia Ontario. Well they were fishing along the edge of some heavy vegatation for bass. They were in a small 14 foot boot. Well at the start of the day they noticed this brand new bass boat booting around the lake, he finally settled on a spot just abit of a distance away from my dad. Well over time this boat kept on getting closer and closer to them. They werent paying much attention to this guy.

Well finally this guy chirps up "what are you guys using ? Your nailing bass left right and centre and I cant get a single fish."

My dad was setting up his line and he thought he was going to pull a move on this guy. He grabs a worm and acts as if he is popping in his mouth, with that he lowers it and says "Ill tell you a little secret man, you gotta warm your bait. Just put the worm in your mouth for a good 30 seconds and pop that sucker on your hook and your good to go."

Well with that my dad's buddy turns around and says " Holy ****! Your Geddy Lee!" My dad said " Stop screwing around Dave" With that he turns around and Geddy Lee is standing there in the sun staring at my Pop's like he is insane. Finally my dad admits " I was just kidding man, were using frogs, let me show you my set up." Geddy immediately laughed at this, he couldnt believe he fell for this. They gave him a few frogs and set him up. They fished for the rest of the afternoon gabbing back and forth.

:bassist:

They are all supposed to be true I thought ? :) No fair pulling the Geddy card !

Pretty killer story though. I think my fav is Sulu so far :) I'm a nerd like that.

Saw FiElDy at the gas station.

He kept stone facing me for some reason.

Asked what his deal was, and he said I should have pulled all the way up to the last empty pump instead of the middle one and that it helps keep things moving smoothly.

I chuckled, told him he was right. Then I asked him if the band had any gear they were getting rid of for cheap. Nope.

oh well.

That worked on ADEMA's lead singer once. We got their whole PA sans amplifiers and mixer for $1000

Two 18" subs, 4 monitors, and 2 2x15+horn towers.

accidentally exchanged "hellos" with KT Tunstall at a rehearsal studio. i thought she was someone i knew.

a friend and I were arguing about what song was on the jukebox in a pub. A tiny, weird looking girl came over to us, said "Desmond Dekker", and wandered off. That was Amy Winehouse.

Back in the early 1970's I lived in Pullman Washington, 80 miles south of Spokane. Although there's a major university there, at the time there were only 25,000 people in the whole town, most of whom were students.

There is no Interstate or major highway in this town - no one goes there unless they're either going to the university or passing through by taking a VERY unusual route on their way to somewhere else.

At any rate, one evening my best friend was sitting in the bar at a local Mexican restaurant, and he see s this guy having a quiet drink. The guy looks for all the world like Art Garfunkel of Simon & Garfunkel. At that time, they were a huge act and very much on the charts.

But there's no reason in the world for Garfunkel to be in this tiny bar 80 miles from the nearest Interstate, so he figures it must be a coincidence.

After a while my friend goes over and politely says hi, and comments that he is struck by how much he looks like Art Garfunkel. The guy smiles, and says that's because he is Garfunkel. They chat for a couple of minutes - turns out he is driving through on his way to a gig at a small college in in Lewiston, Idaho about 45 miles south.

Very nice gent, willing to take time and chat when he wasn't mobbed with fans.

Thailand, 1972.
Came around the corner of an isle in a base commisary store and physically ran straight into Bob Hope.
We both are face to face and all I could muster up was "Hey, you're Bob Hope"!
He was doing those USO shows in Vietnam, Thailand and I guess other areas where the military were serving.
He asked how I was doing and that was it.

Stood in front of the check in counter with Doug Clifford and Stu Cook at the Konocti Harbor Resort, Clear Lake Calif.
Left them alone.

I was out with the family at bass pro shop. And Biff from Back to the Future came walking by us. We didn't get a chance to say anything to him, so we did what anyone else would do we went inside to find him. We eventually found him looking at sleeping bags. (Kinda an odd item to look at) Turns out he does stand-up now and he was performing at a club right next door. He was a little hesitant at first, but we got our picture with him and then we were on our way.

I met Chuck Norris at a Marble Slab Creamery (ice cream shop) in Dallas about 17 years ago. What struck me most about him was that he is really, really short.

Had a very short ("Hi, how're ya doing?", "Good, you?", "Fine, thanks.") conversation before some ass-clown jumped in, trying to get an autograph, which he politely declined.

I met a proper rugby legend today, Gavin Hastings! Really down to earth and pleasant guy! He was one of my favourite players when I was a young lad :bassist:
