GHS Bassics don't look like the ones in the OP's pic at the tuner end. And their ball ends are brass.

Yeah, I use GHS quite a bit, so the brass ball ends are familiar to me. Don't know if they change the rules for Bassics, though, since I've never used them.

They look a lot like Dean Markley Blue Steels, but those are hex core (I think) and now have alternating black and blue ball ends, at least for the past few years.

Sorry, I said Curt Mangan when I meant Dean Markley. Thanks for the correction. I know Jack Casady prefers that brand, and they might even come stock on the Casady bass, so that would make sense. But these are definitely round core. Thanks.

Have no idea about the age of these strings, but I think they're definitely older than the past few years, so they could very well be the Blue Steels. Thanks.

I don't fully understand what you're asking. Can you state it another way?

He's saying that DR Hellborg strings are just a single outer wrap and the core. That's it. You would know if you had Hellborg strings. Those are definitely not Hellborgs.
