Stuff you hate that young people like.

I don't hate anything, I just laugh at it. Hate is such an unproductive emotion, and I reserve it for inedible food.

And remember that kids have been disappointing their seniors since well before the Roman Empire. Other than global warming and famine things have turned out pretty good anyway, bad juvenile manners and music that's little more than noise notwithstanding.

Don't get off my lawn. Here's a buck, now go get the lawn mower!

Right? Some kid back in the late Pleistocene had a different idea than his old man, invented the Clovis point, and got chewed out by his dad for not doing the job *exactly as he said*, and then had to sit through a rant about how young people don't pay attention.

I'd bet my beer money on it. LOL!

Check out the video for Welcome To The Jungle again sometimes. I watched it the other afternoon for the first time in years and was shocked at Axl's hair.

Saw it just yesterday on VH1Classic. Made me ask myself why so many of my girlfriends wanted to "do" that guy. He's a little-bitty, skinny-a$$ed drunk with too much hairspray and makeup on, who is unreliable and abusive. Or he was at the time, anyway.

But then, I always had a thing for drummers, so I never was over the moon for a front man. LOL!

There are literally dozens of things that annoy me about 'young' people:
Too many to effectively list.. but a few that are noteworthy:

Total lack of respect for older people
Genuine lack of historical events and general history knowledge
Addiction to cellphones, PC's, ipods, gaming, ..etc
The garbage that they listen to (i.e.) "music"
Not much interest in patriotism
Not making plans for the future
Not establishing a savings portfolio
Unable to hold coherant conversations
Doing more whining than problem solving
Lack of ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Some of these same things could easily have been said about me 35 years ago..

Looks like the "shoe" is finally on the other foot ... who knew...who knew..

. . . .

I disagree with every point you stated in that post, about myself at least.

I'm young to but I feel old at heart... well not old exactly, but I don't see eye to on a lot of things that other kids my age like. Such as:

MIA

Hahaha I loooove M.I.A.! She's actually really original and fresh and the topics her lyrics cover are really interesting (poverty, third world countries, greed, etc). You should give her new album a try if all you've heard is Paper Planes. It's different than what you might be used to (don't know what music you normally listen to), but it's really really catchy.

But take this from a guy who has some random Beyonce and Justin Timberlake songs on his iPod. A lot of these songs got grooooove baby! Don't hate 'em just because lots of other people love them!

Cell phones and texting in general, but especially while driving. The need to constantly "be connected" at all times looks to me like either discomfort with one's own thoughts and/or skin, a severe insecurity issue, or both.

Pants that sit below the butt. I've never understood this. It looks dumb, and it can't be comfortable. It says, "I'm so insecure I put ridiculous fashion higher in my priorities than practicality or function".

Hats worn in such a way as to have no function other than to signal the wearer's status as an "rebellious outsider" (actually "conforming insider", but they seem not to know this).

Tats on the face or neck.

"I just lost an epic battle with a tacklebox" type piercings. Why?

Cell phones and texting.

The culture of multitasking, which seems to postulate that doing four things poorly at the same time is better than doing two or three things well in sequence.

^^^ You forgot to mention pretending that being uneducated is cool and educated is uncool (mainly as a mechanism for preserving some artificial sense of self-respect).

This is far from universal, but it's still pretty widespread.

Bah, fine with me. The more people who think that being educated is uncool, the sooner the universities will empty out, and it can go back to being the pretentious, ivory tower of academia that it used to be, with none of the idiots ruining classes and disrupting the environment. :ninja:

Ah, Bassybill. I wouldnt agree more. In my High School all of the better looking girls date the "bad kids."

The criteria consists of:
A GPA of 1.0 or below,
Failing more than one class,
Some kind of criminal record, or on probation,
Serves detention weekly,
Cheats on the girl 4 times, only to be taken back everytime.
or a combination of all of the above. Thats more like it.

Why did I get stuck in this generation?
