Something Borderline Offensive
I miss real drums, so count me out of R&B since the '70's with a few notable exceptions.
At 28, I'm not an old fart ... but sometimes I catch myself saying "kids these days" with a sigh. I'm sure when I was (and this must happen with every young generation) a kid, the adults were probably doing the same.
But in any case:
Cyber Bullying. what the heck?... is this generation so caught up in image and popularity they'll hound a person day and night even ONLINE over stupid school drama? Kids are cruel, but it seems this new generation is so desensitized to the feelings of others that they really. don't. care.
Becoming a billboard for corporations - I'm sure a lot of young generations are prone to this because when you're a kid, for some reason, image and brands are "cool". But it enrages me to see a kid wearing a thousand different brand or corporation mind washing advertising ploys on their clothes without even realize they're being herded along like sheep.
Emo. Ok... back in the mid 90's I was a "shock rock goth". This was as laughable as emo kids, I know. But at least we didn't sit around crying all the time (we pretended we were too angry at the world dammit! not depressed!).
The music. Nu rock, which was born in the 90's and which I despise for the most part, has turned into something even worse. The utter crap that they put on the radio with these corporate bands that all the kids rave over...just beyond me. Literally sound like cut and paste versions of one another. Lyrics are just a bunch of cliched mottos stuck together, not creative at all.
Cell phones. Never owned one. Don't want one. Don't need one. Feel a great rage in my heart when I see people yacking on their phones and driving and nearly causing wrecks. 9 times out of 10 it's a kid.
Leet speak and general loss of literacy. When did illiteracy become cool? Oh w8 cuz wrd taek 2 long 2 spel lolololol. Rankles me.
