Stuff you hate that young people like.

+1 to most of that. Although it's worth noting that there is a small percentage of the youth population that doesn't fit that, not because they're social outcasts, but because they were instilled with some degree of free will. Those are the people I choose to associate with.

When I text, email, leave comments, whatever, I use proper spelling, grammar, etc. I can't stand what passes for fashion with kids my age, I mow my own lawn and earn every cent that I spend, and quite frankly, I don't want to have anything to do with most of the kids my age or younger, because of exactly what you just described.

I do like cake though. It's always cake time.

Dude your like the Thundercats..that's so oldschool! Cake is good, not for every meal. These kids prefer to play "rock band" over a real instrument..you get my drift!

Kids are kids. They like ridiculous things and do dumb stuff. Even when I was teaching high school the none of it really bothered me enough to generate more than the occasional eye roll.

The one thing that did and still does really bother me though is that the vast majority of kids have horrible communication skills these days. The shortcuts for IM/texting have caused spelling, punctuation, grammar and even the basic ability to convey a cogent point to atrophy in almost shocking ways.

We R gettin dumr. lulz.

I do feel the need to say that anyone who says "there is no new good music" is looking in the wroooong places, or perhaps just not looking hard enough. Some of the best music I've heard has come out in the past 5-10 years. It's not stuff that's spoon fed to you; you have to put forth some effort and find it. There are some real diamonds in the rough.

guitar hero/ dance dance revolution or any other game that the machine tells you what button you should be pressing. I like games that demand more cognitive skills than mere reflexes. But this generation seems to seek games that doesnt require any planning or creativity.

You better watch out LOL. In my experience girls get sucked into cliques and stereotypes way easier than guys.

4 years old and she's already learning all the girl tricks!

"Daaaadyyyyy....we hafta go to the store an get more Pet Shop toys!"
Oh really? Which one?
"ALL of them!"
How are you going to buy them?
"Um...with your money?"
Uh-uh, my money is buying our food, not new Pet Shop toys! Where's your money?
"Uh...in your wallet!"
:help: :p

Of course, there's no such thing as something young people like. It's what the current generation is into. The tastes of young people will always be contemporary to a degree because people grow up, but they tend to like a lot of the same things when they're older that they did at a young age. I suppose when you're older you're less accepting of new ideas because you've found a comfortable level of stability.

Facebook. I refuse to join and I'm only 22.

I thought you had to be "old" to join facebook?

I'll add ANY social networking site to the list. Good for bands to get their music heard, and for companies to promote their products, but other than that...
I don't need 12,000 "friends" that I can't talk to in person at least once in a while. I don't care about what's going on you life, Mr or Ms Friend Collector; in fact, I would probably find you very annoying in person and would avoid you like the plague. Now please go away. :p

Typical conversation with a blog user(and one I've actually had, several times):
"Oh my God! When you get home, you should totally read my new blog on facebook about what happened to me the other day!"

I'm right here; why don't you just tell me now?

"Well...it's on my blog."

Riiiiight.

Hey I wish the new music would push the envelope to new levels. But it doesn't!

I hate all these new bands.
Girly-looking guys in tight clothes with funny hair and 10 pounds of makeup moping about how miserable life is and about how "misunderstood" they are. Get a life!

*Wonders what Morrissey is up to these days, while pressing 'play' on the Cure/Smiths/Siouxsie/Echo & the Bunnymen/David Bowie mix tape...*
:D

Damn straight. There's nothing you can organise on a social networking site that you can't without. Most of my friends just play games and send each other pokes... or whatever the lame stuff on there is.
