Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II

Yes, there is a learning curve to get the most performance out of it, but it's not that bad and once you get it figured out it's actually pretty easy. You might go back and read the owner's manual again, and you can also download the owner's manual from the Subway D-800+ as there may be some additional information that we couldn't fit into the pedal's manual.
Oh yes, I’ve done both.
And it’s all explained in a very easy to understand way.
How it all functions is right up my alley.

What would you like to see???

That's a tough one! I already have a whole bunch of Mesa gear and I've been a big fan for a couple of decades now and will most definitely continue purchasing more Mesa gear in the future. But maybe a modern Carbine amp or tube amp (I know there was a thread about this idea already) of some kind would be pretty darn cool. I have an M6 and a Prodigy but a new take on those would be very interesting.

What would you like to see???
Sealed vertical 4x10 Subway cabinet, inherently rich in mids, with ability to "tame" with the flick of a switch. And since we're talking about switches, why not add a treble "softener," too. Continue the traditions of Mesa quality, light weight, reasonable price, and 5-year warranty. Make it an 8-ohm version, capable of handling 600-800 watts RMS, to be used in configuration of 1-4 cabinets, in conjunction with Mesa's next-gen 1200+ watt heads (or current Trickfish or Bergantino high-power offerings).

Possibly way out in left field.

I really like my Ampeg PF50-T.

How about a 50 (or 100) watt amp with a tube output section (with a built-in dummy load for operation with no speaker connected), and two DI outs. One DI from the preamp section, and one DI from the output transformer secondary. (I know an internal 100 w dummy load may not be practical).

Here is a really crazy idea.

Speaker cabinets with a modern take on a field coil speaker that can operate in more than one mode by selecting different field coil magnetic field configurations. :woot:

(One time while brain-storming ideas to boost sales of an industrial machine I suggested that we paint hot rod style flames on the sheet metal. One person actually thought that I was serious. :roflmao: ).

I’d be asking for a sealed 212.
8 or 4ohm.

Not sure how feasible, or if there is a market for it.
But a power amp only.
Non tube.
At least 800 watts.
Something with the heft and clarity of a Crest CA9, without the weight.
Although I don’t know what features I’d like to see.
Nothing complicated.
Definitely adjustable damping if that’s possible.

Even though I just bought the new preamp, I'm already saving up after reading this 😅

my experience with this is that the market is way too small to justify the development and safety compliance costs. I’ve have looked at this several times but the demand does not appear to be sufficient.

I own a lot of bass preamp pedals and on my pedalboard is an anagram going into a Noble which isn't changing anytime soon. But I will say for an all-in-one solution (besides compression & a tuner) I think this would be the second thing I would use and I've never really bonded with Mesa bass stuff. I really think the EQ on this might be the best I've ever used on anything ever. I think putting the boost on there is awesome, I kind of wish they would have done a 1-knob compressor but I get it because I think those are a lot more personal. I personally would choose this over any other bass preamp pedal made short of an Anagram or Fractal type thing. I don't think comparing it to a Noble is fair because the Noble does crazy things to the low end (like a Pultec) that you don't really get any other way easily and you like it or you don't...but I'm not sure I would tell anybody it's worth $1400. For $200, the new Mesa Subway+ II is the best deal ever for a bass preamp I've ever seen. Excellent job Mesa Boogie...

Once Mesa is confident most on this thread have already added BD 800 to their Mesa Amp collection🙂

Maybe BD preamp pedal with it's power amp sim switch option
China or USA if more comfortable doing Tube pre in California

Vertical 2x10 at 1x15 weight
as to sealed: I always liked sealed cabs back when but with my Subwsy 1x15 I can't hear the port if you told me it was sealed I would most likely believe it

That’s a dangerous question. 😆

A budget line of cabs in the $600-$1200 price range intended to be a premium piece but designed and built in a way that is not an elitest high dollar, low value product. Their primary goal would to be an excellent sounding cab of high value. ;)
Are you saying Mesa current cabs and prices are 'Elitist' low value🙂

I have heard this sort of thing many times, especially from our European and Latin Americas customers. While I have focused mostly on “no compromise” type products, I absolutely recognize that many players might be better served by alternatives that are more financially affordable. The new preamp is an example of this and clearly the customer was right.
