But you seem to keep changing your criteria and no matter what anyone says it's wrong. Seriously, just buy a used BF-2. It's cheap and it will at least get you 90% of the way.

With the pot turned all the way left, you don't have a flanging effect but only a slow phasing sound..
I have now made a final list of criteria, one that won't change. And the BF-2 not being audible on lower notes speaks pretty heavily against it.But you seem to keep changing your criteria and no matter what anyone says it's wrong. Seriously, just buy a used BF-2. I'm not a troll. It doesn't say anything in the rules about wanting to get the best pedal for my needs being forbidden. I'm simply saying what I want, and asking for suggestions. Not my fault that most of the suggestions don't fit all the criteria.Sounds like a plan to me, if he shoots this down yet again I consider it a troll thread and walk away ... lol ... no big deal, I was no help to him anyway.
You do have a point, but I'm not about to learn a new programming language from scratch just to get a flanger. And why do you think I would be able to make a better flanger than anyone else? If I was interested in making effects, I would have built a flanger already.and maybe you should try buying line6 tone core, you know, and create your own parameters of flanging..haven t tried, but line6 have these pedals that you connect to a pc,and,if i understand it right, you dial in all the parameters you want...or something like that..that could be the easiest solution..
Sorry about that, it wasn't my intention to be unappreciative. The replies here have at least helped me rule out many pedals, which I'm thankful for.You may not be a troll but you're definitely coming off as an unappreciative brat.
Of course, nothing is 100% perfect, but I would rather have 98% than 90%, which is the point of asking here.No pedal will fit all your criteria - you'll think it does at first but once the honeymoon's over you'll find faults.
I think they both sound good.Listen to clips of those two flangers (you can still get a good idea of how it'll sound on bass through a guitar demo) and decide from there.
Do you find the Vortex lacking, or is the FL-9 simply "better"?If it were me I'd go with the Ibanez/Maxon over the TCE, FWIW.

Not my words, see the following two quotes:I'll remember that the next time I play my BF-2.
I had one of the "green label"/MIJ 2's right before this, and my issue was with how my band downtunes, the 2 just didn't give enough "effect" to make it stand out. I would only be able to play the D and G strings which were detuned a step to C and F, so it wasn't that fun.![]()
I liked the BF-2 okay enough, however if you listen to Tool you will find the flange effect to only be prominent on the D and G. If you want that kind of flange on a Low B, the BF-2 simply will not do it well.
I'm careful with my pedals, and I don't think I'll need CS. The Vortex seems very versatile, with the toneprint thingy. Still think I sould go with Ibanez?I am not a fan of TCE, as their pedals aren't built for longevity and their CS isn't the most helpful, at least State-side (many people have said the same).
So, both the Ibanez and the TC seem to have a habit of going bad. And the only store I can find that sells Maxon pedals here asks for the equivalent of US$430 for the flanger, so that one is pretty much out of the question. The Ibanez pedals have a habit of the footswitch dying and you can't turn on the effect. That's happened twice, but I love the Ibanez chorus sound so I ordered a Maxon PAC-9 chorus yesterday. Chorus is irrelevant, but maybe you'll have better luck with the footswitch. Of course the Maxon pedals cost $280 which is kinda ridiculous.
The pedals and the already available toneprints will still be there, even if they stop making more. The TC's "tone print" feature may be interesting but I can't help but think it's a gimmick. How long before the software is no longer supported?
Or was TheWoodShed right; there is no flanger pedal that will suit me?
I can only find one not very good demo of the old version on Youtube, and I can't find a useful review with Google. It also looks a bit on the large side.carl martin classic flange
Of course, but I would think reliability is one of the most important points of something that is supposed to be used regularly. Still, Google hasn't shown me any negative reviews of the Vortex, while Ibanez' footswitches have a reputation for malfunctioning. I still think the Vortex is my best option so far. It's all a matter of tradeoffs. Nothing is perfect and the closer you get to 99.99999%, the more you pay.
