Suggest a flanger pedal

Hey Feral. What is the Mod Zero like? I have been waiting to see what bass players thought of this pedal for flange(chorus).

I've only compiled a list. I wish I could say I've tried the entire list out. No... that's insane.

Anyway, the Mod Zero, I just found out about it from Premier Guitar mag. If that link doesn't take you to the article, try [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Hmm have to add the Starcaster to my list...

I use HBE Frostbite. I've never thought I'd like flanger before I got it. It can do everything one can expect from flanger pedal plus LOTS of very cool sounds, works awesome with my fuzzes and ring mod, it is extremely versatile. I waited till I found one on classifieds and it cost me about $180.

This would be my recommendation as well, however it runs on an 18v power supply.

There isn't a flanger on the planet that is going to meet all the criteria you have given, unless you are willing to compromise.

I liked the BF-2 okay enough, however if you listen to Tool you will find the flange effect to only be prominent on the D and G. If you want that kind of flange on a Low B, the BF-2 simply will not do it well. Besides, it is discontinued, so you will want the BF-3 and use the bass out. But I have a hard time recommending the BF-3. It is not of the quality of pedal I would recommend to anyone.

But take your bass to a store, and plug it in. That is the best way you can tell. My trash may be your treasure.

I use DOD fx75b flanger, although subtle i use it to add some colour so to speak.
It is a guitar pedal, but it has the adjustability your looking for.
Mind you that i have never compared it to any other flanger (except one on a multi effect pedal i used to use for guitar which the DOD was better IMO.)
Works really well in my bass setup and to my taste.
Had it for 15yrs not sure if they still make them so i dont know if you can get it new,
But worth looking into.

Good luck

I didn't think my criteria were that weird...

Well, it is. I am not a pedal builder, but certain types of pedals need certain parameters in order to do thier job well. For example, if a pedal requires many knobs then size is a factor. Some pedals require certain voltages to perform as they should, etc...Fuzzes are easy- three knobs and 9 volts and you are off to the races. Modulation, not so much.

The BF-3 has five knobs and is Boss-sized and runs on 9V dc. Isn't this proof that it is doable?
