Suggest a flanger pedal

Again, buy used. Based on the price for a new Ibanez or Maxon FT9, you'd be much better off paying the used price of a Maxon FT9 plus shipping import fees, since it would be less than half of the new price. Hell, the Maxon PT9 I bought was barely over $100 after shipping simply because it doesn't have the sticker on its back, which would be covered and ruined by velcro anyway. Keep an eye on eBay and the TB classifieds.

Still, the Ibanez is known for having its footswitch fail, and Maxon uses the exact same design, so I guess the Maxon would have the same problem.

I got a danelectro hash browns flanger for free on a trade, he "tossed it in"
They sell for like nothing..$30 or so used
It is totally transparent , no tone suck!
and it sounds fantastic.
And I'm VERRRRY picky w fx.
It's a good effect.
Looks like it has some noise issues, as well as a not-so-solid construction.

Whoever told you the bf-2 only affects the high notes bassofthe is lying to you or maybe my boss flanger is the only bf-2 that affects both low and high notes equally...
Both rockstarbassist and The WoodShed said so...

I had one of the [BF-]2's right before this, and my issue was with how my band downtunes, the 2 just didn't give enough "effect" to make it stand out. I would only be able to play the D and G strings which were detuned a step to C and F, so it wasn't that fun.

I liked the BF-2 okay enough, however if you listen to Tool you will find the flange effect to only be prominent on the D and G. If you want that kind of flange on a Low B, the BF-2 simply will not do it well.

I guess you have less swirly sound when you're just playing on low, low notes but at the same time those notes are not muddy.

Correct- they're not muddy, they just don't "stick out" enough to really tell the effect is even on. Hence, what's the point of having it? Phaser has this same issue for the most part too.

With my BF-2B, I don't have this issue. :) Another one that works well (but is $$) w/ low strings is the Eventide Pitchfactor that I had for a while.

based on your criteria, get the vortex. I've heard about the qc issues, but if you try the unit at a store and buy the one you demo'd, then you should be fine. Great pedal.... if i ever downsized from my Airplane Flanger I would get the vortex or perhaps the Strymon Orbit.
I'll probably go for the Vortex. If the Strymon hadn't been ridiculously expensive (the equivalent of US$550 where I live), I wouldn't have made this thread in the first place.

I guess you mean Modfactor - which is big, and expensive, even for a semi-multieffect. If I had wanted more modulation effects than just flanger, I would (maybe) have been able to justify it.

Fulltone Choralflange!!!
Big.

Yeah yeah mean Modfactor- and relax bro... I know all of that, hence why I have not recommended it to you... :cop: :p I simply mentioned b/c the BF-2 was up for discussion what issues I had with it and why it didn't work, and what solutions I found around that where.

I just looked and there are about 5 BF-2B's on eBay right now. Just a suggestion. :)
