Summer Build Off 2022 - Fun Time Free For All

Well exciting news for me, I have a computer back. :) I've been on the phone only for over a week and hate it. So I'll make some more words now. :D

The Build Off closes at:
1600h PST (UTC -8) Wednesday, September 21, 2022

Voting Threads:
  • I'll be putting up the voting threads right away - hopefully within a few minutes of the end.
  • Voting threads will include links to each entrant's Submission Post (see below).
  • I'll ask our kind and dedicated moderators to unsticky this thread and sticky the Voting threads.
  • There will be a separate thread for each category.
  • The first page of this thread here still has an up to date list of the entrants and categories - if you want something changed before voting, please let me know asap and I'll make the changes.
  • Voting remains open for one week and the winners will be announced on Wednesday September 28 after 1600h PST.

Submission Posts:
  • Thank you very much to all of you who have put up something already!
  • For past build-offs, the submission post identifies you have finished, identified which category you entered, includes a list of specs of your bass, and includes pics, video, soundclips etcetera. Anything to help you get votes. :D
  • Voting threads will link to your submission post and it's the first thing most voters will see, so it's best to have a submission post identified that you want to have linked. I'm following all threads, so if you don't identify a submission post, I'll do my best to choose one on your behalf. Hopefully I don't suck at choosing. ;)
  • Once you have finished and put up your submission post, you can continue to add pics, video or sound clips up until the voting begins. After voting begins, please do not add anything new to your thread except commentary and/or clarifications to questions or comments. :) If you add more, you won't be disqualified, but we will ALL judge you. Like so much judging, OMG.

After the voting is closed, I'll give it a week to lie in state, and then we can start a new discussion about the Winter Build Off 2023. :D

You can insert a link to anything on a web server that is hosted somewhere else, but you can only embed media from the following sites:

For Youtube at least, you can just copy and paste the Youtube media page URL on its own line in the comment box, and the talkbass server will do the rest. I haven't tried it with other popular media sites like Soundcloud or Bandcamp but I assume they would work the same way.

The slightly more complicated (which is to say, the proper way) to do it is to click on the little filmstrip icon in the comment box's tool strip:
toolstrip.jpg

and paste the URL in the dialog box that pops up (which might be slow to pop up).

I think SoundCloud is the one I see everyone using to post sound clips on here.
I've never used it, but it's user friendly for the listener because you can just click on "listen in browser" and listen to it right in the thread.
