I'm not nearly ready. But I'm more ready and less ambitious than I was last time. And it won't be -20 in my shop. Probably.
Well, I'm going fully acoustic this time. I know nothing about building an acoustic body, so that should be fun.
Not sure what that is, but I'm sure it's better than being told I'd make a good door stop, or paper weight. And that's not the worst I've been called.
OK, I'm in. I'll be building an ultra short scale travel bass. A 25.5" scale bass is an itch I've been needing to scratch since I did the 22.75" scale thing a while back.
I've gone through the wood pile in my garage and have lots of pieces that were not quite big enough for a short scale neck which will work nicely for this. A couple more design decisions to make then I'm ready to go.

I have no idea if I'm ready or not.. I'm still missing most of the hardware and some special tools, but I have a plan and just want to start sawing and gluing stuff

Great solution for the handle, that looks a lot sturdier than what most case manufactures put on their cases. The case looks like it could survive the apocalypse, how much does it weigh?
Thanks! Yes, when the case is closed it is a very practical handle. Made from the stem of an old sun shade. However, I tried to manipulate the opened case by the handle and it snapped off! Makes sense, it wasn't made for that, it was made for handling the closed case.
By the way, I estimated the position of the handle exactly right: the case balances perfectly. (But only with the bass in it.)
A lot, thanks to all the 2x2s. Currently I don't have access to a scale so I can't tell you the exact number.
Which means I'm doubly glad about my strong ergonomic handle.
I finally have all of my parts after USPS lost my bridge for about 2 weeks.
I just need to decide on a finish, and get the supplies to do that, then I'll be fully prepared.
