I do not.
I will say that I spent a lot of time drawing in my youth and was a big fan of marvel comics, I had an art book from D&D (never played it), read the dragonlance saga trilogy, and continued to watch all of the star wars, star trek, Lord of the rings and marvel/DC movies up to and into the present. So, I'm a fan of sci-fi/fantasy. Just not sure what level. Probably more on the nerd side than geek side, with a dose of dork.
Also, I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Trekkies is when someone else calls a Star Trek fan a nerd.
Trekkers are when the Trekkie admits that it is true but that they want a name of their own choosing to appear to be upscale, hip, with-it nerds. (self aware, but still incorrigible).

For all the nerds, geeks and dorks reading and posting here, I'm just gonna throw this out there...

Nerds and geeks have been "cool" for some time now so knowing waaay too much about sci-fi actually is cool. I think...

Dorks can have "norm-core" credibility but I'm not sure what qualifies dorkdom.

I would love to see a see a sci-fi/fantasy themed Build-Off but I'm not sure I'm "cool" enough to participate. Although, I have been subtly inserting HHGG references in few of my builds; I think that makes me a dork?

I know virtually nothing about Star Trek. My favourite fantasy book is Tigana, by Guy Gavriel Kay. Tigana anyone? I'm a Tigana nerd.

I used to think I sucked at being a nerd. But now I know I just make unusual choices.

The author sounds vaguely familiar; I worked in a bookstore when I was in school, I may have come across his name but I haven't read any of his books.

What I know about Star Trek I mainly got from the missus; big time Trek nerd!
