Yeah, but that's a teeny widdle Black and Decker drill. A 40lb zip tie is overkill.
I really have no room to talk as I am not winding my own pickups....

Hardware store, in the aisle with the ductwork and fittings. Just like the sticky kind, it's great for all kinds of things. Ducts, securing pipes, emergency muffler hanger, tourniquet for a robot, etc...
Around here it's usually called strapping, never seen it called tape before.

I'm actually fairly new to this region. Grew up on military bases, and the west coast. Only been here about 7 years.
I was going to suggest, try looking or asking for plumbing or pipe strapping. I’ve seen metal and plastic.
I thought you were being funny,.....and then scrolled down and saw the pic. I wasn't sure if it was funnier, or upsetting.So I used 3/4" galvanized duct tape to hold the drill in place.
That there is known as pipe hanger strap, pipe strap, hanger strap, any variation of those words, etc. I've been alive for a half century, traveled around the country 3 times, lived in 4 states and have never heard it referred to as duct tape. It's possible that where you bought that is a tear/warp in space/time and that store is actually in a parallel universe.
That's the only explanation that makes any sense.
All joking and extra dimensional anomalies aside, that sander rig is next level awesome.
Dont get me started on parallel universes...
Next time I'm at the store, I'll see if they still have it. I bought this roll back in 2008/09.

Since theres so much interest in the sander, heres a parts pile pic of the big one I was going to make. The 1.5" T-channel frame and 24x36x1/8" aluminum top came from the work dumpster and will hold an 18" drum. Its powered by that 0.4HP 120VAC motor that came out of a washing machine. I have the rest of the wiring harness.
So $0.00 invested so far.
I still need the bearings and axle. And time. I have a log, more of the same walnut. Not sure if I'll have time to get this done for this build, I'll probably use the spoilboard jig to do final body thickness.

Even more awesomer, that just reminded me that I saved the drive motors, belts, rollers, elevation motors and misc parts from a few commercial treadmills that the school scrapped a few years ago,...that I had no idea what I would do with!!

Dang, you could build one heck of a sander with that!
Treadmill motors are supposed to make good variable speed motors for whatever you might need a variable speed motor for.

And I’ve seen plenty of treadmills going for cheap to free.

If I spent half as much time on this build as I have spent working on my POS car in the past two weeks, you would all be looking at photos of a completed bass.

It's a month in, I had hoped to have the body at least glued up by now.

If this was a car repair forum, I'm show you how to remove a CV drive axle without getting under the car using only an old bed frame, angle grinder, and a hammer.
Edit to clarify: not a replacement from start to finish, just pulling the drive axle. I'm not paying $65 for a tool I'm going to use only a few times!!

There are many wide ranging threads on here, some even encourage derails (@ChickWithaRic, I’m looking at you!
) and I for one, have no issue with whatever you decide to post.
Side note:
The big motors I have were out of big commercial grade treadmills like you'd see in a gym/fitness center.
And think they're 3 phase. Not even sure if I can use them.
Anyway, I think most of the home stuff has DC motors. Or at least used to. I have a couple of those too. They can be used as generators. But that's a different ball of wax.
