How does it handle output volume for "clean" sounds?
Can it retain a decent output level? My VT Bass (V1) will have basically zero output if I want clean + eq.
A fair bit of drive is needed, even with high settings on the level knob, which is problematic when used on stage.

The Super 300 is an intensely good clean machine. Just keep gain low and level high. Or put on ultra low which tames the gainy edge. I've never met a more versatile pedal than this one in terms of getting usable clean and usable dirt.

Thanks! While the VT Bass can do many things, consistent and flexible volume settings are a challenge. I think I need to look closer at the 300 for stage use!

Damn, that sounds really good. I hesitated to order one because I have a SV-Pre and a Fliptop on the way and a Slampeg scheduled for March... I thought it might be too much Ampeg but now I regret that I didn’t.

I already have the VT-Bass DI and a SCR-DI and a bunch of other preamps but the Super 300 sounded really good on those clips. Probably have to order one for April.

I'm not too well versed on all those other pedals you mentioned, but I never connected with a pedal as much as my Super 300 (and to be fair, the Rusty Box too).

ETA on my batch is March 10-12. Can't wait to try it out! I'll definitely try dirty, but wouldn't be surprised if I run the Super 300 clean-ish and use other pedals for heavier dirt when needed. Whatever works!

Can't wait for SV-Pre vs. Master 300 shootout. I thought about getting one of the Ampeg pedal preamps for comparison, but they don't have a separate Gain so it doesn't seem fair.

I had both the SV-Pre and the Super 300 on my board at the same time and did a shootout to see which I wanted to keep. The Super 300 was the clear winner.

The demos sound good and about what I would expect from a SVT based pre. Although, the enclosure reminds me of my great grandmother's wallpaper. I'd be interested in a smaller version as well

LOL at great grandmothers wallpaper. Now that you mention it, my grandma had the same stuff on her bathroom walls, except it was gold. Gotta love the 70's!

Remove the 'bright' footswitch and make it a mini toggle, put it in an enclosure half the size with top jacks, and I'll order one right now and have a Super300/SV-PRE/Fliptop/Slampegg knockdown dragout of 'Ampeg in a box' pedals!

All of the jacks are top mounted. You might be thinking of the original big box model that had the XLR output on the side. The current pedals are in a 1590BBS enclosure - same size as a typical 1590BB but a bit taller like a 125B to accomodate those top mount jacks. There really isn't a whole lot of room inside to go to a smaller enclosure.

Per Canada Post, ETA on mine is March 24.

When I got my Empress Bass Compressor last year via Canada Post, it arrived well ahead of ETA. Hoping the same will happen with the Super 300, obviously, but I won't assume.
