SUPER CHEAP Chinese Rickenbacker... Worth Buying?

Actually Rickenbacker can press for the U.S. Customs office to seize any shipment of these fakes as soon as they hit a U.S. port of entry. Our nation has laws against counterfeiting, and contrary to popular belief, the laws do get enforced, and all manner of counterfeit goods are found contantly. Tons of fake goods are destroyed yearly when they are found and seized by the Customs Department. So you do stand a small chance of never getting your Fakenbacker. Sure Rickenbacker can't do much of anything to stop the production of these fakes that use their name, but they can sure work with U.S. Customs to make sure they don't get much past the shipping container as best they can, when they get over here.

the chances of this are extremely low.. china has "most favored nation" status, and does not have the same cargo scrutiny that other nations have..

uh, and what would you call any cheap Fender copy then??? According to you, every SX that came out of the factory should be in the landfill before it reaches the USA just because it looks like a Fender but only costs 100.00?

Calm down.
lpdeluxe is not saying anything about any other brand of bass except this particular Chinese fake that claims to be a real American made Rickenbacker. We all know that SX makes no claim to be a real Fender, nor do they use misleading fotos on their website, unlike these ripoff artists.

your right, I made a wrong analogy towards his statement. However him saying it is worth nothing and should be used for landfill is crazy. Just because they are ripping off the "name" doesn't necessarily mean they are junk for the firepile...plenty of good units come from China already regardless of what name is on the headstock.

Perhaps, but the mere fact they are misrepresenting these basses as something they are not should be a huge red flag to everyone. I wouldnt take the chance. Anybody that so bold-facedly lies about their product is not to be trusted, period. If you choose to buy one of these, then you're a fool.

??? I was responding to the OP concerning the wisdom of buying (I quote) a "SUPER CHEAP Chinese Rickenbacker." I'm afraid that I failed to address anything Fender or SX. Perhaps you should calm down and read what I said, rather than something I didn't say that you wanted to take offense at.:rollno:

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even have a truss rod. I'm currently living in China and I've encountered that problem with a lot of cheap basses/guitars here. That said I'll keep my eyes peeled for one of these and check it out to see how it plays/sounds. That said, I've found some amazing deals on decent basses here, and I even picked up a really cheap Cort that plays and sounds good enough for keeping up my chops and jamming while being in the far east and away from my beloved gear.

No, it's not worth it, unless your idea of a really good time is surrounding yourself with crap. It's a lot cheaper to go wallow in the local landfill.
your right, I made a wrong analogy towards the statement. However you saying it is worth nothing and should be used for landfill is why I posted in the first place. Just because they are ripping off the "name" doesn't necessarily mean they are a hundred dollars worth of junk for the landfill...plenty of good cheap units come from China already regardless of what name is on the headstock.

until some one buys one we'll never know if they're crap or not...If anyone remembers a MIJ co., Tokia (i think thats how it was spelled) made Strat copies that were as good as a US made one...they did get busted though. I know first hand from being at over 20 NAMM shows that the chinese have perfected manufacturing techniques...they use CNC machines just like we do.They make crap and good stuff....just like we do. Another thing to think about is how US companies do business....They can have parts made over seas.. bring them here...assemble them and then call them Made in America. I read one of the "feedback" for a les paul...the guy said ti played and sounded great BUT...the bridge was on backwards and the nut was cut backwards....perhaps pcs that were to shipped here for assembly are now being assembled there...??

Some of the vintage fake rics that I've seen on here actually look really nice! So nice in fact that I can't tell the difference between some of the fakes and a real one. I've never played one of these identical copies though so I can't speak for how they feel compared to a real one though.

But these chinese ones in this thread all look like garbage! That price actually seems outrageous to me for how terrible these things look. If I saw one in a pawn shop for $50, maybe. But that's because these look like they'll sound and play like a $50 bass should.

Also, for the "rics are crazy expensive" arguement. I got a quote from one shop just a couple weeks ago for a brand new one for $1510, and that INCLUDES shipping and a setup. That's less than a Fender American Deluxe series and only slightly more than an American Standard series. I'm really surprised by all the "rics are too expensive" arguements on this site, while everybody is raving about Sadowsky. The only Sadowsky basses I've seen and played have had price tags over $2k, and too me don't feel or look any better than an American standard series Fender. AND those are for the japanese made series, I thought foreign production was supposed to keep costs down? Keep in mind I'm not belittling Japanese made instruments, I think they're of great quality, but I always thought that it was supposed to cost less. If you want to talk about overpriced, look at sadowsky.
