Superstitious rituals?

I usually use the bathroom and wash only my right hand so there's no residual moisture on my fretting hand (same thing when I shoot pool). Make sure all my axes are tuned up and my amp's been on for a while. Usually one drink helps loosen the joints and gets the bassface ready to come out and play.

I make sure I have my pedal chain properly layered, grab a whiskey and a pint and chase off any patrons, that obviously started way too early, away from my rig.

For years the only time I would shave was before a gig. Sometimes this would mean going weeks in between shaves. For a normal man, this would not seem like that big of a deal but when your facial hair looks like when Beavis and Butthead cut hair from their heads and superglued it on their faces it could get a bit strange looking.

Practical habits can still be done in a superstitious manner...

Like, if I don't tune before the first set the bartop will catch on fire by the third song.

If I dont have a drink up on stage with me Im bound to suffer spontaneous combustion.

If I dont wash my hands we certainly won't have time for Turn the Page in the third set.

No, its not that difficult, really. At least the front side of one hand.

1) Put one hand under running water.
2) Apply soap to this hand.
3) Lather using a "gimmee some money" motion.
4) ???
5) Rinse
6) Profit

I trim my finger nails and join in the vocal warm up with our singer and drummer. I don't hardly sing but the utter rediculum that is the vocal warm up CD is enough comedy to put my mind at ease for a few minutes.
