Supro Huntington Club

I think it's time I changed from old-school flatwounds. I love them, but I think I've come to the agreement that they do not suit the sound of this bass. I know most rave about Pressurewounds, but I'm considering them or Brite Flats on my Huntington? Anyone wanna sway my opinion? Looking for something that'll provide more punch in the mix, but not so much that it clashes with the guitars.

A tip for any of you that clean your basses time to time - DO NOT take the saddles off the clean the beneath the saddle springs. The bridge saddles have a VERY small and very fine wire that stretches from a hole in the bridge to a hole in the saddles. This undoubtedly provides a connection for the piezo magnet. On going to clean the bridge the other day, I unscrewed one saddle to find it came off loosely. Presumably, this had become detached through natural wear and tear. I now have no bass. I then discovered the G saddle screw has been screwed incorrectly into the saddle. It's jammed and in trying to unscrew it, it broke the other piezo wire. I now have no bass and am waiting on repairs...if they can repair it. Gutted.

This was my first time properly cleaning my instrument, after discovering there was dust (SHAMEFUL!) under the bridge saddles when the lights on stage shone on my bass.

I had a similar experience with my ubass. Pulled the bridge out and essentially destroyed the piezo. Dug myself in deeper trying to fix it and now wondering if it's even worth getting it fixed. It was one of the original basses w no volume or tone control. I can probably get a better SX for less than the price of fixing it.

Apologies for the derail, but felt like sharing in case it might make you feel a little better :) ....

I wanna go lollipop tuners as well. Thinkin the ultralite 3/8" from Hipshot i just put in my 4001 should drop right in! Ill post a photo if everything swaps out appropriately.

yes let us know! I want to change tuners myself, but haven't had time to investigate what size fits

Yes, my low string (.125 tuned to C) is a dunlop. It's good, almost as smooth feeling as the labellas on the rest of the strings, but maybe I little brighter, which is to its benefit on the low string. My impression is that the DRs are almost exactly the same as the Dunlops (maybe a little rougher and brighter) I got another bass with DRs and Dunlops mixed, and I think they blend together as well as any two makes of strings can. I like all of these better than the chrome's that come on the bass, because I just don't like the texture of those strings.

Hello! I'm new to the Huntington club (Huntington II) and had some questions. I purchased a used one and I am unable to get the piezo pickup to turn on. I thought you were able to pull the tone pot to turn it on/off but I don't seem able to do so. Am I doing something wrong or did someone sell me something broken?

If you have the piezo, the tone knob should pull out to engage. But not all models come standard with the piezo, you might look on Supro's website to see if your config definitely has it.

I am torn on whether or not to replace the tuners on my H1. At first they seemed marginal, but now they seem to operate smoothly.
I'd be curious to see how much actual weight reduction the Hipshots give. I've got a set that would fit laying around.

I cant imagine any more than a few ounces in weight savings. The stock units just have too much play in them to hold a string in tune long enough for me. Adjustment isnt the greatest either. Seem to fight with the tuner to get it right.
