SVT 7 Pro Bought the farm

The Hartke LH1000 is built like a tank and rocks the socks off of any Ampeg made today!!! Sorry Ampeg guys but the fall from grace isn't an easy one.

I had a Hartke rig and was definitely underwhelmed. Never could get the sound I wanted. Then one the aluminum drivers popped, and I had enough of Hartke. Maybe they've cleared up their problems since then, I don't know. OTOH, I have one of the dreaded SVT-3 Pro heads and love the sound. I match it with an SVT410HLF cab. It's the sound I'm looking for, plain and simple.

I am sorry but there is one amp in the new factory that costs thousands of dollars to buy. Ampeg or US Music or whoever they are owned by now are banking all their stock into it but I do not know what designation it is. I know it was over $2000. I wouldn't buy it given the current status of the company. I buy Hartke and MarkBass and Hartke kicks ass all the time everytime no matter where they are made. btw, i won't sink to that level of wishing failure on a company that you love. hartke is a very good company who makes really good products and larry is a great guy. ampeg's had its problems when the former head idiot took a thriving company and bankrupted it, but i believe they're pulling out of it. the loud products i've played on gigs over the past couple years have been excellent. so i wouldn't put on the party hats and celebrate the demise of the greatest name in bass amps just yet.

that's great for you. The LH1000 is better than anything Ampeg is putting out right now period. btw the Hartke is using the Fender tone stack too so how can you go wrong?

While I respect your opinion I will disagree on one thing. The one thing is that Ampeg is on its way back, I don't think so . I could care less either way. I am a Hartke and MarkBass player. I did look at and consider the SVT7Pro but read many many bad reviews here on TB and didn't wanna spend $799 . I could get a MarkBass Tube 800 for $799. I believe Ampeg can make a come back but not w that amp and not if the stuff they are making is that kinda quality. I have no stake either way so if they come back great if they don't I will not be too sad because there are so many other amps out there that do a better job. It is just like having Acoustic make a comeback as a Chinese company that GC sells as an inexpensive brand they have. Remember their fall from grace and look at them now purely a price point product that mom and dad see as an affordable alternative to quality stuff. I hope for your sake Ampeg doesn't go that route but if they do OH WELL!!!!

well, i have to say that, that's 'YOUR opinion'. in my opinion, Hartke doesn't make anything that holds a candle to an SVT VR. i'm not bashing Hartke (& i think that they're decent amps), but rather, just balancing the 'opinion book'.

Even in price the Hartke wins $799 for the 7Pro I would never.

I've been abusing a full non-USA rig of Ampeg products for the better part of the last year with lots of touring and have yet to have a single problem with them. I understand QC issues and I understand that some of the products have gone sub-par compared to their SLM counterparts. But I wouldn't hold my breath that Ampeg is circling the drain by any stretch of the imagination

and from my experience, Hartke makes great introductory products. My first real rig was a Hartke HA2500 and 410. For what it was, and for my lack of knowledge at the time, it was great. But knowing what i know now about the tone and features i need and want, i don't see anything in the Hartke lineup that i would play.

You said "anything" Ampeg makes. I have seen a lot of complaints on here about Markbass too.

it's got a 5 year warranty except for the tubes. anything can stop working one day, but if a product works today, chances are it'll work tomorrow and the next day, too. at least if something happens it won't cost you money for at least another two years, unless it's a tube. they're fairly cheap, though.

Introductory products the SVT7Pro is just that. Compared to the LH1000 it loses all the time. I am not sure what ur talking about non USA made Ampeg stuff is a disgrace in my opinion. Hydrive cabinets (13 birch) compared to Ampeg MFD boarded cabs good luck buddy hope everything works out for ya.

OK point taken but I stand my ground. Plus I said anything they put out right now. Good luck w your Ampeg stuff hope it works out for ya. Like I said I have no stake in if they succeed or fail. I will stay w my MarkBass SD1200 and my MoMark SD800. I do miss my recently sold LH1000 sorry I have to go light weight that is why I even considered the SVT7Pro but glad I passed that to get my MarkBass stuff.

i don't think they've gone sub par. i think tubes have gone subpar, but everyone struggles with that nowadays. ampeg lost electrical windings as a supplier so they can't get american svt transformers anymore, but that happened even before ampeg moved to china so even if they stayed they'd still have to use chinese transformers. but i really don't hear any difference in old and new svt's. and that goes for the hybrids, too, which i also use on the road pretty often. and the cabs are definitely as good as slm in their prime (mid-90's).

and from my experience, Hartke makes great introductory products. My first real rig was a Hartke HA2500 and 410. For what it was, and for my lack of knowledge at the time, it was great. But knowing what i know now about the tone and features i need and want, i don't see anything in the Hartke lineup that i would play.

i do. i really like the hydrives. the styling is a little severe for my tastes, but the sound is there.

that's not apples to apples, either. the 7 pro is class d with a switchmode power supply, and the hartke is class ab with a torroidial power transformer, which has been around a lot longer and is a much more developed technology than class d/smps. so a much more fair comparison would be the lh1000 vs the svt 4 pro. and with all due respect to larry whose lh1000 is a very good amp imho and it's a lower price as well, i'd rather have a 4 pro.

what the heck are you talking about? and i definitely DIDN'T misquote you. the SVT VR IS on their production lines right now.

okay, we get it. you love the LH1000, but i certainly don't.
and as far as you wishing me luck with my SVT, i don't need you to wish me any luck with it. it's been a perfect amp, gig after gig, since i bought it new in 2007.
