A stretch? I don't think so . I just haven't ever heard anyone one ask , " what comes close to sounding like a Ashdown"? Or what ever else.

Now they come stock with the mesa black shadow, but they used to be Electovoice EVM12L which weighs in at 20lbs and is rated 200watts - a beast of a speaker. The Thiele was designed around the EV12L, the low end is suberb!Bassgod, you are correct. I found several of those little Mesa Thiele 112's on Ebay, although his has a different speaker in it than the stocker. The guy who owned it before him, though, is a bass player, and he loaded it with some big Gauss bass speaker and used it for a small cab.
I've tried many others and have never found a direct replacement for that TONE. I own micros and I've played Mark Bass and Sun, Acoustics,Eden. They're all fine at what they do.

You need to understand , I'm a old guy 57 and I've been using SVT's since the 70's. I've tried many others and have never found a direct replacement for that TONE. .
John K is awesome! But, what is a Barbershop clone?
+1
However.................
I have owned an early original SVT and played through several backlines. With John K's help, I have come very close to that tone with an SVT 7 pro and one of John's Barbershop clones.
I couldn't be happier with my 15 pound SVT....Thanks again John.

You mean you're not trying to get that Ashdown or Thunderfunk tone?![]()

But no need to rewrite history in order to make your point![]()

Got no clue how many they make, but the Heritages get 250 per year since they started in 2010, and I know they have to sell way more standard CL's and VR's than that.If your talking to me, I'm not sure why. I'm not attempting to 'rewrite history,' I'm explaining how things are NOW.
Sure, we all see SVT's at concerts. You know how many I see at clubs/bars/corporate/wedding etc. gigs?? None. I don't see anybody shlepping these things to a pro(excluding concert level) OR weekend warrior gig, ever. I know it happens, but I've yet to see it. But I see lots and lots of other amps, including Ampeg.
They sell every one they make? How many do they make? I'm genuinely curious to know.
