SWR Fan Club

In case nobody's noticed, the 350X and 550X Pro-Series heads are being blown out for insanely low prices on eBay and elsewhere. I just bought a factory-sealed 350X to complete my SWR *X collection from an authorized SWR dealer for $285 shipped. MSRP $1200.
Do an eBay search for them to see who's blowing them out at the moment.

After playing through a Red Head, I was hooked on SWR. To me they have THE tone! I'm poor, so I got what I could afford, I bought a used Workingman's 4004 off of ebay 5 years ago. I also have a Sansamp RBI in the single rack space of the amp, and run it through the effects loop. My cabinet is an Avatar B410.
I get compliments on the tone all the time, and the SWR has never failed me. Someday I would love to have an all SWR rig. But, so far I haven't needed it.
So am I in the Fan Club?

Proud owner of a swr workingmans 8004. Simply the best head i have ever owned. Had it for the past 3 yrs, wont ever sell it.
I've had my Goliath for over twenty years now. Sometimes I use it in conjunction with a big bottom; other times, it does just fine by itself!
Just wanted to say that I'm totally satisfied with my little ST220!!

Just added an ART SLA-1 power amp, 260 watt 8ohms.
The dynamics of SWR amps are amazing and I love the CRACK I can get when I dig in. My P bass sounds so warm like the P Basses on thousands of recordings, studio quality. Glad I never sold it and never will.

My set up is an SM500 w/GoliathIII cab(8ohms)
As far as basses i have a Spector NS5xl and a Euro5.
I love SWR since 1992 but i'm not too thrilled about the sound these days,anybody has a set up similar to mine that can give me some eq. setting tips or something like that.Any advise would be really aprecciated,i'm almost to the point that i want to sell the amp and go to "the dark side".

I just bought the last piece for my new rig! A pre-Fender Golliath Jr. and a pre-fender Son of Bertha!!!
Add in my SWR Bass Monitor that I all ready had and I am back to a full SWR system. Should get my SOB early next week in time for my tour of Western WI and Eastern MN!!!

Nice to see there are SWR brothers out there....lots.
So I'll bore you with my short story. Lived in L.A for years and bought a Basic Black when they came onto the market. Couldn't get over the tone, was just pure love. Owned all kinds of amps including a couple of Acoustic 361's...which i STILL kick my own ass for selling, but who knew? Anyway, I played the **** out of the Basic Black and ended up running down to Sylmar to get the damn thing fixed several times. Though they sounded great, they were/are self destructive...and any SWR tech will tell you that. Never the less, after all those years and fixes, I still have it and LOVE it. Thats even during the years when I had 4 bag end cabs with 2 18's biamped, 3K watts and a rack of ridiculous equip...GAS??!?!? Kept the Basic all these years and use it as a practice amp. It's going to be buried with me.
Aside from the Basic, I have a Super Redhead linked with a Triad and just sold a GJIII. Picked up an LA15 and that sounds great too...leave it at a friends for a small project we are doing.
NOW, on the hunt for an SM900 and a Goliath Senior or a Big Bertha.
BTW, any real difference in the pre-fender SM900's and the newer ones? Also, still trying to decide on which cab will work better for me....the Big Bertha or the Goliath Senior...hmmm. LOVE 15". Anyone use an SM900 with a Big Bertha???
