Hi Dave.

I just recently went from a new Son of Bertha to a new 1x15 Golight and to me they sound the same. Boom boom down low like a 15 does but will un boom with EQ. I like using it with the Golight 2x10 because one is tight and punchy and one is 4 wheel drive.

Very nice cabs.

Went and played with a Blues Trio last night and just took the 1x15 Golight. It excelled in that setting. These guys do not play very loud and I was afraid I would be too loud. I set up my rig and turned on after the first song they asked me to turn up. I smiled and said why sure. :D I turned up, they were happy and I was happy.

Played the night with my trusty 53 reissue Fender with my tone control on the Bass at about half way down for that Bluesy Tone.

I'd use the Basic Black for rehearsals and using it at higher volumes (without clipping) will shake the components loose from the IC board. I also recently had a weird cutting in and out issue. Took the driver out and the connection was shaken loose. Simply put, I have found that pumping the cab hard for extended periods of time will not help the longevity of the unit. It's not meant to be a used this way. The design was changed because the SPL within the enclosure played havoc on the electronics. This is why they discontinued and went with the Workingman 15 design where the electrical components were set on top of the cab and separated from the 15" abuse. Everyone loved this combo and the sound, but it was ultimately self destructive outside of low volume rehearsal, studio or practice situations.

To me, the Basic Black is what the signature sound of SWR would be. That 15" is just so dang sweet sounding! That's why I am vacillating over the Big Bertha and the Goliath Senior for my future rig with an SM900.

A little too heavy for me but seems cool.

If I were doing the Combo thing I think I'd rather have the Super Redhead with a 1x15 under it.

I'm suprised SWR has not updated the high end Combos with NEO's. Perhaps a move they will make shortly though. That little Spellbinder has a NEO I think but it's tiny either way.

I really like 15's. To me they just have more of everything and yield IMO a more classic Tone. :)

A 15 in a combo though seems like it would rattle a lot more.

Apparently there's some GoLight amps coming in the next few months. I don't know if that's going to include combos or what, but it would help explain the runout pricing on the 350x and 550x.

The Black Beauty at 95 pounds is useless to me no matter how good it sounds. The BB was half that weight, a long time before Neo speakers became fashionable.

How are you going, Red Planet, with the not-quite-stacking-straight feature that your 115 and 210 had? (now that you've had it a while).

I tried working on it but to no avail. They do not want to stack just right. They are only slightly off though. So far I have had no real trouble from it. I was going to stop and pick up some heavy rubber feet but the place I used to get them dosnt carry them anymore and havent had a chance to order any online. A set of big rubber feet on the bottom of my top cab would cure this problem all together. Neither cab comes with feet.

Still loving my Rig so far. Have been eyeballing that GB Shuttle Max 12 though since it is so stinking light. Perhaps I should wait to see if SWR is coming out with some lightweight Monsters. It only makes sense, since they came out with the Golights. After looking around the Golights seem to be better at price, weight, and power handling than many of the light cabs out there. Looks like they picked a winner.

I'm loving the M2/PLX.

As of last Friday I'm an SWR endorser, even though I don't have any SWR cabs at the moment (apart from the much loved Bassic Black combo). There's no better amp sound for me .... although some days I feel like busting open the M2's hood and seeing if I can make a switch that retunes the enhancer back to the 'classic' SWR scoop.

Oh members of the SWR club, what can you tell me about the SWR Workingman 2004?

Is this a good practice / small gig amp? I am looking for a bass head to run on my Peavey Tour 210 and am considering different options, including the Workingman 2004 and the Peavey Mark series.

I have an appointment with a Workingman 2004 that someone is letting go for $140.

BTW for those that would appreciate knowing.

If your jonesing for any SWR Gear Galaxy Music here in GA has plenty of it and they are making extremly good deals in it.

I went by there today. They have the Golight Cabs, the Goliath IV stuff, a new Goliath III (they would probably make a good deal in), and I saw a freakin new Megaliath in there today. Looks mean. Other stuff as well just mentioned some of it. Would love to have one of the Golight 4x10's to go with my other Golight Cabs!

The Guys at Galaxy Music are extremly friendly and nice. I'm sure they ship too.

Hay Dave I figured out how to stack me cabs.

I did what I had said and it worked.

I put some big rubber feet on the bottom of my 2x10 and it raised it enough for the other thingys to clear each other.

The feet I put on are 3/4" tall and 1 1/2" in diameter. I may put a set on the bottom of my 1x15 as well. I can see no reason not to. I dont think I like the idea of the 1x15 so close to the floor. I think over time it would wear the carpet on the cab.

Anywhoo it works great!

I had issues with my new SM-900 head - actually I blew it up! The music store took it back and gave me full price towards something else. Since I don't own SWR anymore I don't need my SWR number anymore. It's #74. Thanks , Pedulla-Player
